Like the little sybarite I am, I've just had bacon and eggs for breakfast. Nomnomnom. Feel pretty good today. Fingers crossed!

Good morning all. Off to take more photos. Yesterday was spent in the garden and I now have a portfolio of pictures of the dog, the cat, two dunnets, a lot of rudbeckia, some conifers and--ehm---did I mention the dog? Thank you for your offer A ( have only just seen your reply ) may well be asking for assistance although I have got the photos onto the PC!!! Nearly broke the camera, I was viewing the photos and and the machine started talking to me! No one told me it was a video and no one told me it spoke!

YouTube Links - A Moderator's Plea. Here's a wee grump (in which I know I'm not alone) to start the morning, concerning the growing habit of posting YouTube links on this board without any hint of what they may contain. This is aimed at nobody in particular, but seeing that post from A has reminded me again that it's something that members have mentioned to me in passing over the past week or so. Of course we have absolutely nothing at all against these links as such, they're a brilliant resource: but not everybody here always has the time to follow them up immediately they appear. If they're just posted as above with no hint of identification, then the chances are that when members do get the opportunity to follow them up, there are so many unidentifiable ones that they either have to take pot-luck (and as often as not find it's wasted time going to something that's of no personal interest) or bypass them altogether. Which means that they become a waste of time for the prospective viewer as well as the poster, as well as being perilously close to spamming. It also makes it far more difficult to find favourite links again, thus making the board a less convenient place to use.
It's a small thing to ask, but could we please have just a brief indication of what each link actually contains - just two or three words will often suffice - so that members know whether it's something they want to follow up, or indeed so that they can find it again in the future?

Oh! look what I've just found on YouTube! It's possible a little surreal for some tastes, but it's a 'listening score' for Ligeti's electroacoustic work Artikulation that scrolls along as you're listening. Nice.

I agree with Ron. I never look at links if there's no indication of content, and could well be missing some good stuff.

I agree too, mostly on the basis that I only intermittently look at this forum with access to YouTube (it's blocked from here.) That said, now I can't gloss over the links with such a carefree attitude and find myself sighing in disappointment at all the tantalising descriptions. Hey ho. I still think it's a very good idea though.

I certainly agree with Ron. I have YouTube blocked on my PC so I have to allow it in order to play things - if there's no indication what the link is to, then I'm never going to bother spending the time.

I note that it is my postings that are commented on not a certain other person who continually does this. I shall stop. I wouldn't have thought it was that tricky to click on a youtube item if you really wanted to and to refrain if you also really wanted to. A

I will stop too. I also did not think that it was a problem. I don't know much about computers. I enjoy it when A and other post youtube link. I liked A's youtube links very much. They put me in good frame of mine. Thank you Mr. Ron Dough.

Oh gosh don't stop A. I'm sure plenty of people appreciate the links (I would if I could!), it'll just be handy to be able to see what they're about.

No A, it wasn't your post I was commenting on: I said very specifically that it was aimed at nobody in particular. Yours was the one that greeted me upon logging-on, and reminded me that I was intending to say something about it, but I'll say again that it wasn't aimed specifically at you or anyone else, but was intended to help halt a general growing trend before it becomes widespread.
