There's no place like home

All a bit of a trek for me I'm afraid!  This place isn't bad though, especially after a walk up the hill on a warm day.  Smiley

Well, dang me! I idly clicked on that just in case the wonderful Capaldi's of Brora got a mention, and there it is! I can indeed vouch for the extreme nomness and excellence of its ice creams. The promise of one was a most effective bribe when needing to persuade the children to go on a 'healthy' (i.e. rain-lashed, gale force 9) dog walk along Brora beach.

The story was that the original Mr Capaldi was one of a number of Italian prisoners of war at a camp up in that area who chose to stay on (or presumably went home and came back again) after the war to make a living there.

It's the same story for many of the Italian cafes in Scotland, GG. There aren't so many as there were, but both Edinburgh and Glasgow still have a fair few.

I'd add my recommendation for the Harbour Bar in Scarborough - a real piece of fifties nostalgia and just what a seaside ice cream parlour should be.

Nearer to home, PW, there's Marocco's on the Hove seafront - near the King Alfred Centre. Very Italian, very 1950s and the ice cream is extremely good.

If anyone is up North (Martle you'll have to get off the train next time!) I can recommend Bonds of Elswick.  Bonds ice cream is fantastic!  Elswick is a nice little place to visit too.  Smiley

Good morning. It is bright here.
Laryngitis is not a pleasant thing to have. I had it a few times. The worse thing is that one really can not talk in iether language.
I hope you will feel better soon. It does eventually go away. Can you play your tuba with laryngitis? I can play piano with it.
