Good morning everybody!  I've been offline for almost a week due to a total cock-up between BT and TalkTalk.  Nice to be back on now.  Hope everyone is well.  Lots of threads to trawl through now.... Smiley

Hello, Milly! I noticed you were missing Smiley. I've been in London for a few days, for a couple of operas. I'm Brittened out now.

Hello Mills,

Great to have you back: I'm afraid that BB is still a very unsteady technology, and that for providers, trying to switch people back and forth is about as easy as standing on a tightrope on one leg and throwing a plate to somebody else in a similar position, whilst simultaneously attempting to catch one that they have just thrown at you....

(....Oh yes, while both of you blindfold, too!)

Ron, it certainly produces the kind of effect that you  might expect from such a manoeuvre. Smash, smash, thud. Tears. Rage. Ominous silence.   Angry

Welcome back Millyeeeeee!!  Great to have you back Kiss Kiss Did they give you that fancy new `phone as well?

Thanks everyone.  Cheesy

It was coming away from TalkTalk and back to BT that caused all the problems.  BT are just as inefficient after all.  Sad They didn't even inform me that my home telephone number would be changed!!!!  I only found out by accident when I rang the helpline to ask why my computer was offline and when he asked me what number I was ringing from and I told him, he replied "That's not right.  I've got a totally different number on my screen."  I asked him what number he'd got and of course started to argue that it wasn't mine - but then it hit me what they'd done.   I'd had nothing in writing at all!  I also assumed that they would synchronise my telephone with the broadband - it all being on one number.  Hell no!  I had to put a separate order in for it but they didn't tell me till I rang to see why there was no service.  Nothing was explained at all.  So the computer has been five working days behind the phone.  Add to that all the inconvenience of having to inform everyone of my new phone number - and I couldn't even email them!  Angry  The telephone operator actually I suggested I go into the library and use their free service to do this.... unfortunately, this being a very small town with only one library, the chances of using that facility were remote.

Anyway, it's come back on with my old email account at the moment, but I'm expecting new equipment today - new router and a phone that comes with it.  They've given me a new email account to access and activate it so I don't know whether I'll be able to get back to my old accounts again.  It might all go pear-shaped.  I've printed off a load of stuff in case it all goes.  I suppose I don't need to connect the new stuff really......?  It gives me double the speed though....oh I don't know!

Will somebody please tell this dog that I don't want to walk for miles in the pouring rain?  There's been no let-up for 12 hours now and it's bucketing down.  He doesn't seem to understand my reluctance.  Roll Eyes

CUT IT OUT, DUDLEY!!  Your new mother does not to go for a nice long walk, smell interesting things and get drenched in the process. She wants to stay in her nice warm home, although this may seem bafflingly boring to you. Trust me, she knows what she`s doing. Now why don`t you go and finish eating the remainder of the door that you snacked on last week? There`s a good chap Cheesy

Too late!  We just got back after a brief respite from the downpour.  He's been going absolutely mental at top speed through the sand dunes whilst poor little Milly stumbled along behind desperately trying to keep him in sight.

About the door!!!!  It's cost me £200 for a new one - £100 for the new fire door and £100 for the day and a half it took to fit it and and new door frame that he'd wrenched out.  Now that's what you call a strong jaw!  Can you imagine if he got hold of somebody's leg?  Shocked    Anyway he won't get his teeth into this one.

He's really bonded with me and has become my shadow.  I can't get up to walk to the other end of the room without him following me, which I don't mind - but I do have to leave him sometimes, I just can't take him with me everywhere.  I've set him up now what is hopefully a secure place when I'm out and he's still in prime position to be the great guard dog he is.

He's very different to my dear old Alfie.  Alfie hated getting wet and wouldn't go out in the rain willingly even as a young dog.  He used to drag me into bus shelters and sit down and refuse to move.  Grin  Dudley doesn't care what it's doing so long as he's out in it.   Now see if you can guess how many other dog walkers we met whilst out in this weather....

I'll give you a clue - it's a nice round number.  Roll Eyes

Good morning everybody.  I'm very glad it's Friday, but have a deadline at work so it might be a hectic one.  No idle browsing of New Musical Connections today, methinks Sad

Traffic is in chaos round my way - there's a police road closure just beyond the end of my road, resulting in ALL the traffic into Central London from the Peckham area being sent up through North Camberwell - in other words, up my road - on a diversion.  Fortunately I'd set off earlier than usual; had I left at the normal time I'd have been better off walking.  I really must get into the habit of using my bike, as it would make life so much easier, but I'm still a little bit phobic about cycling on London roads.

Had a thoroughly enjoyable evening at GOT's L'elisir d'amore yesterday, and am off to Billy Budd tonight at the Barbican.

Morning all. Cripes, it`s cold out there! Just got back from a brief trip and by the time I got back I couldn`t feel my ears Shocked  Am now going to warm up enough in order to go out again to pay money into the bank Cry and then track down some some pickling onions. I`m cutting it a bit fine for Festive season consumption, but hey, a pickled onion is not just for Christmas! Grin

It's raining. It rained all night. I'm not going anywhere. I know I'm lucky to have the choice.

Oh, good morning, everyone. I feel so low that you wouldn't want my company today.

That sounds like Britten cold turkey to me, Mary. Perhaps temporary respite might be afforded by slinging a few mugs on strings between a couple of chair backs, spinning Noye's Fludde, and joining in: after all the weather's just right...,
