No frost here either. It may be that the "Siberian blast" will hit the East side rather than the West. (There's a joke there if you're an Ali G fan :-)) It is cold though. We very rarely have snow in this area and if there is any it doesn't settle because there's so much salt in the air from the sea, I've always assumed anyway.

George, you're obviously in town! Meet you for a coffee at the Mad Hatter tea rooms?

At every one of these [classical] concerts in England you will find rows of weary people who are there, not because they really like classical music, but because they think they ought to like it. (Shaw, Don Juan in Hell)

It's a lovely day here in the North West - as long as you aren't trying to get anywhere by train, that is.

It's a lovely day here in the North West Really? It was snowing in Oldham around 9.30, according to my mum at least. I'm hoping the various train issues aren't going to stop me getting to Luton Airport tomorrow morning. Anyone know anything about this? Incidentally, I just had a call on my mobile from a lady at Easyjet checking if I had any questions about my flight tomorrow. How weird is that?

I'm near the coast, t-i-n. It makes a difference. Definitely no snow here - not that I would mind.

tinners,
Trains to Luton shouldn't be affected, since they use the Midland Main Line (out of St. Pancras or via Thameslink) rather than the West Coast out of Euston.
No snow here, though we've had two storms of hail, and the sea is very turbulent indeed.

Found it after your first post, thanks. Also discovered that Monday's strike is called off anyway, so I didn't need to have used Luton after all. Not that it matters: at 50 minutes from London Bridge I think it's actually going to be quicker from my particular corner of London than Heathrow usually is.

There's a very regular and convenient shuttle service from Luton Airport Parkway to the ærodrome, tinners: doesn't take many minutes at all. Landside of the airport is fairly basic, but the airside is quite well appointed.
