Going to the doctor is an effort, though, isn't it? Get appointment, get there, sit in waiting room with other sick people - I hate it, and hardly ever go, but perhaps I will next time I feel well enough! I just may try NHS Direct. I've always had a pretty tough digestion, so I'm not used to feeling like this - well, I'm getting used to it.
You're quite right that a lot of people are ill-ish. Thanks for your sympathy.
What did you think of Ballet Shoes? They messed up the story a bit, but I still really enjoyed it.

They do not say how big it is; how big is it? We wish to compare it with our SONY ICF-SW7600GR, seven and a half inches by four and three-quarters, also "super-cool" some years ago, and also taking four AA batteries, but not really portable over long distances - not in the hand we mean, although it goes well enough in a suit-case.

Mary, There is a long-duration stomach bug around: call NHS Direct and talk over the symptoms with them, please.

Ever obedient, Ron, I just rang/phoned/called them*. I got a recorded message saying they were exceptionally busy, and only dealing with urgent cases, so my lack of faith in them proved right this time. I will try again some time.
A "long-duration stomach bug" describes it well. It's always comforting to know there are other people with the same thing.
*Am rather horrified to find myself using this American construction. I mean I have just phoned them.

I enjoyed it immensely! I usually have a problem with films about books I've read and loved. They're never up to scratch and of course there isn't time for much of the content. The characters are not usually as you've imagined them. I thought they did very well with it under the circumstances though and it was well-cast. It did capture some of the "atmosphere" that I've always associated with the story.

Morning all. Gosh it must have been windy last night. A fence panel has become dislodged and is keeling over in a rather forlorn manner,
Mary, sorry to hear that you are feeling unwell again. I agree with Ron, you realy should see a doc and get it checked out. I have had only positive experiences with NHS Direct. I`ve used them for myself and others. I called them recently because I was very concerned about an elderly relative of mine. They were brilliant and immediately put me through to a nurse who arranged an ambulance for him. Just as well because it turned out that he had a heart condition that had, until then, not been picked up on. When I had gastro-enteritis they `phoned a prescription through to my local pharmacy. Please give them another whirl Mary.

Mort, I've left a message on your telephone re. profiles and secret questions. In case you can't receive it for some reason, I went in this morning and deleted "why are you so stupid?" again....so nothing has been done to rectify the situation on a permanent basis. Is is possible to rectify it or is it just something we all have to put up with?

Oops, I didn`t see my blinking red light, Milly. The three of us have scratched our heads over your Profile problem but Michael has said that he will have a look at it and try to rectify it when the festive rush has calmed down. Hope that`s ok with you, Mils.

I cannot imagine the Member wishing to carry a suitcase merely for the transportation of a small Sony "gizmo". There must (as he himself constantly proves to us) be more to life than this! Baz

Sorry it isn't ok Mort. It's not very nice at all and I don't like the phrase "try" to rectify it either. It can either be done and speedily or not at all. Anyway, it's been nice knowing you all and I hope you all have a very happy New Year. Milly xxx

Morning all. Yawn. Shiver. I`m off hospital visiting in Salisbury today and I gather that the brass monkey population will be out in force. Why did I have to pick a day when it`s going to snow?

Best of luck Mort, both with the weather and your hospital visit <hug emoticom> Make sure you wear sensible boots - just in case!
Cold here but surprisingly no frost that I can see (peering blearily through the windows into utter blackness)

Thanks Anna I have indeed excavated my sturdy boots for the fathomless depths of my wardrobe. I would swear I caught a glimpse of Narnia while I was scrabbling around there!
