You should worry Mort!  I have a large dog that will want to go out in this for a long run!  There is a howling gale here and freezing rain.  Trouble is, he doesn't care what the weather is doing he just wants to be out in it.

Tired of getting soaked on dog-walks? Gales getting you down? The new Canine Butter Churner is the answer to every dog-owner's prayers.

We've just had a blizzard in Millyland!  Shocked A real one with bits of snow in!  Very rare in this area.  We've now got 70 mph gusts so I'm hoping the roof will hold.  Very scary it is too.

Good grief! Hang on in there, Mills. Wise call on your part not to go on a major dog walk.

Morning (ok, afternoon but it's the thought that counts) all,
There is a Tornado warning for the southern and central part of the country!

Look here:

Hopefully i will at least see a funnel cloud so I can cross that off my list of things to see during my lifetime (next: an active volcano)!

Some years ago, at a facility where I was working, there was a "Tornado Watch" announced over the PA system and we all had to go and hunker down in the middle of the building.

All this in Darkest Sluffok!

Good morning from my burrow in the third sand dune on the left just down from the Promenade!  Roll Eyes

Still very strong winds but not as bad as yesterday.  I'm going to venture into the back garden shortly to survey the roof - if I still have one on that side.  The sea was unbelievable last night.  Fantastic to watch, wild and totally out of control.  The waves were several feet high.   A ferry has run aground a few miles up north shore.  I'm amazed that they got everyone off safely - the helicopter took ages to be able to position the rope for anyone to catch on to.  All safe and well thank God and salvage experts are along there to see if they can do anything with the ferry.

Hope all of you out there have survived with little or no storm damage.

I saw that ferry on the news. Glad things are a bit better for you today. I was woken at 6.30 by very noisy wind and hail battering my window, but the sun's out now. I haven't ventured out yet, but the bird feeders need replenishing, so I'll have a look for damage when I refill them.

I'd love to have seen your stormy seas! All very Peter Grimes.

That's why I've chosen to live here Mary.  I love the sea.  It's majestic and ferocious during a storm and it seems to fill me with some sort of "energy".  I love watching nature at its most violent in that way.  The sand is a pain I admit, but you can't have one without the other I'm afraid.  Sand is a lot easier to get rid of than water.  My heart goes out to all those people whose homes are flooded year after year by rivers overflowing the banks.

I hope I don't regret saying this - but we've been very fortunate and kept our electricity throughout.

Unbelievably, I've just been outside and my roof is completely intact.  Next doors' haven't escaped unscathed on both sides, but there is minimal damage considering the battering we've taken.

Dang, but it`s cold! It`s the kind of cold that gives you a headache when you`ve put out in it for only a short while. The scarey winds of yesterday have subsided, thank God. I did not like being out in that mayhem Shocked

I can't be without the sea either, having been born by it - even if a long way south. Located a slight way inside the Firth, we don't see the mountainous rollers than you get on open coasts, but it can still be very vicious here.

Hope everyone here remains unscathed: there seems to be something rather nasty working its way down the East Coast towards us at the moment....

I've just had a text from my son, who's on a boat in Bangkok. He says it's very hot and sticky. Give me storms any day.

Why do the young always go to Thailand?

That's very funny, GG, though sadly serious as well. That area needs the jobs, but if he gets his way, it won't really be that area any more....

I've just been watching our coastline on the news.  You can see the heavy seas all along here at the moment - well it was at least two or three times worse last night.  The stricken ferry was hit by a 20 ft wave and the skipper said that even though he was used to sailing in rough Atlantic seas, he'd never had this experience before.  This climate change is going to affect us all so we're going to have get used to it from now on.  Scary.
