Equally remarkable is another shot I took - which seems like a close-up of the church on the far right of your picture Ollie.

Whoops.  Thank you John.

In the identical position, but turning round 1800.

Don, (This should be on the pedantry thread?) At this time of year in Carnoustie I suspect Ron will only have to turn about 1200 maybe less, what do you think Ron?  Smiley

Not even 1200, John, more like 100.

It's not looking too clear now, although there's a wee while til sunrise, so here's one I made earlier - about 100 yards away from the other location, just before 08:00 on December 4th, 2003, with a earlier, 3 meg camera:

I am trying to see the difference between morning and evening pictures.
May be morning picture has more blue colours in it, more promise of a new day (for me). The evening has more pink and red colours.

Ron -

Thank you for the dawn photo. I felt such a wally for my initial suggestion after John things pointed out to me.

Both are very beautiful - you're right that the colour of the sea at sunset is extraordinary.

I am not sure I would know a dawn from a sunset view without being told, but I will ponder the difference now I have your two examples.

Don, I didn't mean to wallyize you, just being pedantic/mischievous.

Ah, but no two sunsets are the same and no two sunrises are the same, and indeed a sunrise CAN look like a sunset. All depends on the atmosphere/cloud and maybe cosmic rays. You know the old saying red sky at night.... red sky in the morning, and of course you've seen the more common grey sky at night and grey sky in the morning.  Smiley

Of course they sound completely different. Just ask Strauss for example Wink

Here's another one from about midway between the other two; 08:24, 22 xii 03: I was commuting to Stirling and awaiting the 08:28: the station is only yards from the beach, so I strode across the little road and the plot of grass to catch the reflections in the rock pools in the reef, before sauntering back to the open-access platform. There's an occupation crossing just up the line, and the trains are obliged to whistle before they reach it, which gives about 90 seconds' warning that arrival's due at the station
