Cat-loving Firefox users might be interested in the Red Cats (green flavour) theme which I've used for some time. It makes Firefox look like this: rather than the slightly boring way it usually looks. I much prefer my rather more minimalist look:

I have just installed Firefox after umpteen cutouts through Windows so I'm cautiously optimistic. Hopefully the Mogward customisation doesnt slow it down or promote ye olde spam?

Forgive a distracting enquiry from a novice, but I've just tried to install Firefox as default browser. It worked once then gave up the ghost. Does Internet Explorer interfere with it in some way (this is on a 1GB laptop); does a 3 dongle dial-up connection not accept it; and/or how do I configure an alternate default browser if that's what I have to do(all Windows appears to allow is yes`to itself). Thanks for your time guys if you've a mo.

Shouldn't be a prob running FF as yr default but then using IE if yr forced to - I do this when sites just won't work on FF. Have you set options/main in FF to always check whether it's the default on start-up?

Thanks Andy-I had a hunch it'd be useful to retain both. The problem was I couldnt open FF at al, but now IE is working again (it had apparently pushed FF into safe mode, ie I presume dormant, then gone off in a huff itself) I'll try again.

I believe you'll find it's nigh-on impossible to actually *remove* IE from your system (really).

Just as well my OE was restored yesterday, Virgin/Telewest seem to have fallen over yet again in the e mail department. Plonkers.

I don't use it, but this might be a handy FF extension for when you need to view in IE: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1419For myself, I have just discovered this extension - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2871 - which corrects typos when you type a URL into your address bar. If it works, that's a brilliant idea!

Virgin appear to have fallen over in more than the e-mail department. We have had five substantial service "outages" - each of several hours' duration - in the past week - TV and phone still working fine, but no broadband at all. And, to add insult to injury, when you ring the status line you are directed to their website ...

PW, I am sure you will be delighted to learn that Virgin maintenance work in Brighton should be completed by 5 o`clock. Well, that`s what their propoganda, whoops sorry, Status site says. As for Haringey, which is where I am, there appear to be three maintenance bungling activities going on and one of those started at midnight. Still, at least I can access BB even if I can`t get at my e mails

Thanks for this, Mort. I shall wait with baited breath ..... However, why does it appear to be so difficult for a broadband provider to let its customers know about maintenance work? Is it really beyond their power to send an email to their customers in advance? (Presumably part of the answer is that in my part of the world, with no terrestrial TV reception and therefore most of Virgin's customers taking phone and TV as well as broadband, they know they've got a firm grip on the more sensitive parts of their customer base ..... )
