A quick search on the Sibelius forum suggests that the keypad that I've ordered (thanks Ron) is compatible with this incarnation of Leopard and works fine for Sibelius (phew!). I made sure that I did complain on the feedback form they send you with a new Mac.

Mind you, it's just occurred to me that you can probably change the keyboard mapping if you know what you're doing. Which I don't. If anyone does know and has the time to explain to a thicky, can you PM me please? (oh dear, 3 posts in a row - we know what that means, don't we children?)

Firefox 3 is released on June 17 - which just happens to be my birthday "Firefox 3, which has been going through various release candidates for a while, will have its official launch date on June 17 (that's Tuesday). The Mozilla Foundation wants to set a Guinness World Record by setting the record for the most downloads in 24 hours." http://blogs.guardian.co.uk/technology/2008/06/12/firefox_3_release_date_june_17.html

Yeah, but what will it DO, I mean look at what they are saying, makes no sense at all to me, so therefore I won't download it there’s a project we can do at Mozilla that does a few things:
1. Collects & shares data in a way that embodies the user control & privacy options which are at Mozilla’s core.
2. Enables everyone — from individual researchers and entrepreneurs (both the social and capitalist types) to the largest organizations in the world — to take usage data, mix it up, mash it up, derive insight, and hopefully share some of that insight with others.
3. Helps move the conversation around data collection and web usage forward, to help consumers make more informed decisions.Huh? You see they don't actually know how to communicate effectively with non-IT people. Yeah? John W

John You're quoting a blog, quoted within a blog aimed (I imagine) at tech-literate people. It's not exactly a press release. Here are some of the release notes which give some more idea of what is actually in the package. If you want a nice shiny guide to why you should download Firefox 3, I'm imagining that the real reasons won't differ all that much from the reasons given for downloading Firefox 2 except that it's a new release which takes into account the issues raised in the link that Andy has posted.

My USB keypad arrived today and it works very well with Sibelius! I've been using a keyboard borrowed from work for the last few days, which has been very nice, but it's a bit bulky, so the keypad is much better.

Here are some of the release notes which give some more idea of what is actually in the package. Looks good hh, I'll download it on Tuesday but I'll have to check all my extensions will work OK before I install it. That was the problem with version 2 if I remember, extension writers are not always ready for major new releases. Edit: I've just checked and all the extensions I use are OK for FF3 except Sage, which I can live without. Copy Plain Text - which copies text from a webpage without all the formatting - is one of the most useful but it was long ago abandoned by its developer. The version I've got is very old but some time ago I amended the max. Firefox version no. held within the code to 3.0 - doesn't mean it's going to work with FF3 of course.

Of course Sibelius 3 isn't actually supported under Leopard. There are problems primarily with the printout, with braces, brackets and final barlines all suffering. Initially I thought it was the printer driver but that doesn't seem to be it. I'll post something on the forum to see if it's a problem anyone else has but I'll also be talking to my colleagues at work to see if I can get a free upgrade to Sibelius 5 (free to me, not to the uni).
[edit]Or alternatively, I'll just look on the forum and see if anyone else has the same problem. Which they did. And there's a solution too. Just have to reduce the resolution... Isn't the internet marvellous?[/edit]

Gosh hh,was it only up to 1800 hours? I've only just been able to get on the computer, but I'm downloading now, got Windows and Linux versions to do, suppose that counts as 2 downloads.

It started at 10am PDT... So I've calculated it in the wrong direction haven't I? That means it went online at 2am GMT? I think I'm so clever but I can't add up.

No... I did add up correctly! The new version went online at 19:16pm GMT (I think... ) Download Day officially started at 11:16 a.m. PDT on June 17. With the announced date, the download day is June 18 for timezones greater than GMT +6, which includes half of Asia and all of Oceania.
The large number of users attempting to access the Mozilla website on June 17 caused it to become unavailable for at least a few hours and attempts at upgrading to the new version resulted in server timeouts. This problem has since been fixed and Firefox 3 is available for download from the Firefox website.
As of 21:30 UTC on June 17th, Firefox 3 has been downloaded more than 1.3 million times. "Download Day" ends at 18:16 UTC on June 18th.

No... I did add up correctly! The new version went online at 19:16pm GMT (I think... ) Well... Nearly there. It went online at 19:16 BST (please excuse the 'pm'. I was getting overexcited). I'll be in work later on to see if I can download it there. Because it's a networked machine I have a horrible feeling that there are restrictions over what we can/can't install but I'll give it a go. Partly because I don't like Microsoft, partly because I prefer it as a browser but mainly because we've got an older version of IE that doesn't do tabs. And I like the tabs for some reason.
