Oh my goodness me it certainly looks a heck of a lot better on my machine. And yes, a lot less windowsy than Firefox 2 did. So it just has to stall less often than FF2 has been doing (which wouldn't be hard) and I'll be well pleased. (Hm, it does seem to get confused about the arrow cursor and the text cursor though. Anyone else seen that?)

If I download it, will it take up more space on my tightly packed hard drive, (and make the machine even s..l..o..w..e...........r.............?)

I've installed FF3, all add-ons seem OK except for a couple, including Copy Plain Text as expected. FF now checks whether add-ons provide secure updates - an out of date one like CPT doesn't, of course, so it won't work even though I've manually edited it to apply to version 3. I'll learn to live without it I expect. Haven't really checked out differences from FF2 yet so can't comment further now. I use one of the Red Cat themes http://www.bluecatsgraphics.com/Firefox_Themes/cats/3.html (there's also a green flavour), so I never normally see how FF looks by default. No obvious problem with arrow/text cursor Ollie.

I doubt the installed FF3 programme takes a lot more space than FF2 Don B but it is supposed to be better with its use of memory so might actually speed up your m/c. http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/3.0/releasenotes/

I generally still use M*******t W**d and that gives you the option (under Paste Special) of pasting just the unformatted text. So I don't think I'd be interested in that add-on. I haven't noticed arrow/text cursor either. If I download it, will it take up more space on my tightly packed hard drive, (and make the machine even s..l..o..w..e...........r.............?)
That will depend on whether its a bigger file unextracted which, without access to more information than I actually have, I can't tell you. I think that the answer is 'probably'. [edit] Just seen Andy's post - that looks much more optimistic, accurate and promising! [/edit]

I've just checked and OpenOffice does the same hh, thanks for the info - it's only slightly more long-winded than doing CTRL+V. I can definitely live w/o Copy Plain Text then.

Anyone else having problems with r3ok and FF3? Mine's just crashed three times in a row trying to view r3ok pages - I get about two pages in, then boom, Firefox crashes and I have to start again. Hopefully just a passing phase.
EDIT: Hmm - I've had five or six crashes today now - seems to be worse when I have more than one tab open. Not just myforum365 pages though. Mozilla are going to be pretty deluged with error reports if everyone's having similar troubles to me.
Maybe hold off on downloading for now, Don B, until the kinks are ironed out.

That's right Don B. Like Andy says, FF3 might be slightly bigger than FF2, but you won't have both of them at the same time.

No probs for me in r3ok trj. The only crash I've had was in the bookmarks manager.

Wasn't there some report a couple of days ago about the new Mozilla, because of the demand of downloads of FF3, all the Servers collapsed? Sure I saw that somewhere.

You're right Anty, at the beginning of the download period the servers were overwhelmed, presumably because FF3 was so popular. I downloaded about 3 hours later and had no problems.

La Antheil would like it to be know that although she knew about these problems with FF3 and the downloads and servers she is not a nerdy computer geek with smeared spectacles and lank brown hair, it is merely she is cognizant with the on-dit that is cyberspace in real life. It is a gift. Unknown to many. Like being able to quote Dylan Thomas hour upon hour. Many are called but few are chosen.
