Wasn't there some report a couple of days ago about the new Mozilla, because of the demand of downloads of FF3, all the Servers collapsed? Sure I saw that somewhere.
You're right Anty, at the beginning of the download period the servers were overwhelmed, presumably because FF3 was so popular. I downloaded about 3 hours later and had no problems. from http://failblog.org

In many cases, possibly not. In your case, Mort, bearing in mind your previous track record....

Ah, the Mortmuda Triangle. I had a horrible feeling that someone might point that out .... Sigh.

However, a few things to try first, Mort: are all the plugs firmly in their sockets? Next time the computer's off, take out every plug you can see and ram it home again, one by one (no chance of getting any back in the wrong place if you do that). If anything has a mains plug that's not moulded on, test that, too.

Now I realise THIS is where I should have posted my story about yesterday in Brighton. Anyway, as it happens I have managed to secure on indefinite loan a power supply of the right kind. The moral of the story is, if you replace your expensive Apple power supply with one on eBay that costs a tenth of the price, buy two or more at a time because they aren't reliable - and if you're in my line of work you don't want one going down on you just before a concert.

I am passing my time sans laptop/internet quite pleasantly. Really have to get it fixed though...mostly a matter of hauling it to the out-of-town apple service place. I had hoped to do it today. Tomorrow, I will hope to do it tomorrow. My phone is telling me I'm posting in the happy room, but I don't believe that I am...

I haven't mentioned this before, but every time you post from your phone it goes to the right thread but titles it 'Re: The Happy Room'. Same on M&S. I spent 20 mins or so one sleepless night carefully re-naming your messages over there so they all were titled in accordance with the thread you'd posted them to. Strange, though. Doesn't seem to happen with anyone else's phone.

My phone is an exceedingly basic one OOH WHAT'S THIS? An auto-fill setting. Ah, it seems disabling that has done the trick. No more lies, now.
I would quote your post now, time, and put some laughy though still appreciative-looking emoticon as a response to it (my phone would prefer to spell it 'ennuicon').

Well... maybe an ennuicon could be just the thing to fill the void in our collective soul... Or maybe not... I don't care...

I do like the new integration of del.icio.us with FF3 - I might actually start using bookmarks properly soon...

I'm on good terms with computers at the moment. After spending the whole of yesterday, a good bit of this morning, and much of monday-night trying to fix a single line of code (to do with rotations), I now have a partially complete 2D portal engine up and running. Joys. (a portal engine is...erm...well, easier to see by looking..., the canonical example of a (3d) portal engine nowadays is the one used in Portal).
