It is, as previous clues have stated, from the first movement of a concerto for violin and a rather strangely-constituted chamber orchestra ...

Oops. Not been keeping up with the clues. I thought I might just take a very wild stab I the dark.

richard, could you please be so kind as to name the mp3 files you post with the puzzle number? Makes them much easier to find again on my hard drive if I need a second or third listen.

Oh all right. But not just yet. I have a little stockpile of them you see. They're presently named numerically starting with rb01.mp3, and they're all uploaded already.

Ah, Mr Bryn, glad to see you here, I'm surprised you haven't yet unravelled the secrets of at least one of 232, 234 and 247. And Strina will perhaps be familiar with one of them, what with its baroquely violinistic aspect.

Well, I am trying to go for negative points you know...

Also I may be embarrassed to reveal too much ignorance.

(Damn, it sounds familiar!)

If you post your answer on this thread you can be sure of not collecting any points for it.

Mr Grew, Re Repertoire Records thread: can we assume you have been at some point a librarian in your obviously rich and organised life? The meticulousness and accuracy are remarkable, if we may so say!

We agree that Repertoire Records is marvellous!

We also note that we could not fail to associate "Repertoire Records" with "Acorn Antiques", and hence also being to mind(s) an image of Member Grew in the attire of a certain Mrs Overall.  Smiley

I've just returned from a short break away to find that we now have to do our own sums when contributing to the 'test' thread.  Sad

I'm absolutely HOPELESS at sums - even more so than at recognizing snatches (let alone working out how to post my own snatches). It's (for me) a disaster!

I'll just have to look on from the sidelines from now, and post the odd quip on THIS thread. I've never really understood the ever-changing subtleties of the marking scheme, and I'm now too old to learn it.

I'll just peer in occasionally, and perhaps post some (hopefully) interesting comments on this thread.

I'm going along with my 'C Dish moment' and avoiding these threads almost completely now, and IGI's NMC  Sad

I'd be very glad if the Grewsome one were to remove my name from the 2-60 points list - how I got UP to zero I don't know  Cheesy

My next target is to disappear OFF the top-ten-posters list (I recently got down to 10th,), then the top-ten-most-on-line (I'm 9th). I will probably always be on the top-ten-topic-starters but that's a nice list  Cheesy

Two ways to achieve this(?):

a) stop posting

b) stop being provocative by using Stravinsky as your avatar.

According to Mr. Grew's rules I am not allowed any further stabs I think after this one.  Purcell wrote hundreds of them Odes!

Not so Madam; you are entirely free to keep on guessing.

Heh heh, stop posting... well I'm not posting much and only on here maybe 30mins a day, which means I don't read everything - we have a team of mods to do that now  Grin

Stravinsky avatar provocative? I was only chuffed that I found that vinyl! It is the second time I've used his image in my avatar, bit odd as I'm hardly a great fan, in I'm only familiar with a handful of his works and dislike a couple of others, but he was very photogenic when he got older, unlike me  Undecided

Dearest Esteemed Moderator Mr. Grew, I fear, if I have been reading your Rules aright, after the third attempt I am docked points.  So, although of course I now know the answer I could not incur your displeasure and your trifling with my meagre points.
