And in a truly GREEN spirit (befitting to Member Martle and others), this must be our vision for attending the Henry Wood Promenade Concerts by the year 2112...

...P.S. Can you spot the conductor (Martyn Brabbins) arriving to conduct the performance?

Why the helmet, one wonders.
Buff diving?

Dank you very buch, Oz  Wink

It is obviously one of the traditions of nude crowdism that one participant at the very least must have a helmet. What is the history behind this tradition, and what exactly might the helmet signify? Has anyone any information?

I always thought the helmet was for protection. You need it when it is your turn to do the head-stand.

I detect something Debbussyan about the little trumpet flourish at the start of Member Grew's longer excerpt...this is supported by the whole-tone harmony and distinctive harp usage...I can't decide what though.  Undecided

Change to Rule 2: The maximum length of the extracts or snatches has been increased from six seconds to sixty seconds, and they are not limited to mp3 files but may also be wav files.

As an Open Source enthusiast, I'm disappointed that SG is not allowing the Ogg Vorbis format.

And what about FLAC. He deserves a bit of that, surely.
When drafting the message we actually wrote ogg flac and ape as well but realized that many members will still not be able readily to play them.

Incidentally Mr. D. and Mr. Brybn have just been docked 75 points each for off-topicality. The first full set of statistics should appear later to-day after Mr. Dish has responded to a couple of outstanding suggestions.

Cheer up, Andy, let's see which of us gets to bite his ear. Wink At least the dreaded WMA seems not to be on the list. I might post an mp2 or an aac of something, some time, but there again ... .

Of course it is only for the wasp waist once again that one has eyes is not it? And indeed it was evidently that sole cynosure who had the sense to keep his trousers on. Believe us Queen Mary remains to this day the best and most reliable guide upon all matters of taste.

I pray that our dear Mr Grew will forgive my possibly impertinent enquiry, but that he will understand that my question is merely the result of the muddled thinking that is the sad lot of the female brain in matters numerical. Our dear late husband the Colonel always spared me from such distasteful subjects. Might dear Mr Grew kindly explain to me how it is that 75 points can be deducted from a Members account when the balance of the account in question is £0. 0/-. 0d ? It seems to us most curious, if not a little unfair. However, I am convinced that Mr Grew, in his great and undoubted wisdom will provide us with a satisfactory explanation.

I will retire to do a little light embroidary while I await his answer but, oh dear, I fear that the spectre of the Poorhouse looms for all of us. Indeed, I myself appear to have incurred a debt for being what I believe is referred to as "Off-topic".  We live in baffling times. What would our poor, dear Queen think of of such goings on?

How could we not believe you? One brief mention of the name "Shostakovich" and she'd have us burnt at the stake as heretics before we could utter the name "Queen Elizabeth"!

And the scoring system will inherently mean setters set near pumpkins, when there are fewer guessers and hence more chance the puzzle will last longer.  Expect to log on each morning to find a flurry of new snatches.

That's a good point, Tomsky. I was thinking of stumping up a snatch right now, but clearly it's in my interests to keep it dry and wait till nearer pumpkins.

 Tongue

And now I find that you are all posting snatches whilst I am at work.  You know very well that my firewall won't allow me to get anything when I click on your snatches.

(Matron! The Screens!)

I think we need a new rule.  Only post new snatches when Tommo can get at them (usually around 8pm to 1am).  Even better, just award your points to me on the basis I would have guessed it first (like the recent Mozart Quartet).
