I can here live ska and reggae music from live bands on the front around the corner from me

No ska or reggae at the village fete, but we were entertained by this fine body of musicians:

Is that another board member I spy at the back?
THAT'S MY BAND PW!!! Thats me on the right hand side playing tuba!!
If only we had sound too, BBM! Lots of oompahs? Grin Are you the one nearest to the camera?

MagelJane, my guess would be the one with the dark hair to the far right. Only a guess, mind ...

I did give you a wave, BBM, but you seemed rather preoccupied (and I had to leave before the end of the first set).

Here's another pic - sadly no sound for MJ, but I can vouch for the fact that they were really rather good (and, yes, there was plenty of oompah):

At every one of these [classical] concerts in England you will find rows of weary people who are there, not because they really like classical music, but because they think they ought to like it. (Shaw, Don Juan in Hell)

MagelJane,
Yes Morgicia? Cheesy

I expect those tubas fill up when it rains - or do they have little brollies fitted?

(I love that word, skudding!)

Me too, MJ. Shame it's usually spelled 'scudding'.  Grin

As PW says, it's glorious here on't south coast. Pretty breezy, but warm enough for that to be pleasant rather than annoying.

I can here live ska and reggae music from live bands on the front around the corner from me. Hmm. Picnic on beach or Wimbledon?  Huh

Perhaps you should put martle in with your Yellow Class MJ? Wink Wink

That's me on the right handside, playing the tuba. Another of PWs pics, is the one withn our new kit drummer. His first gig with us, and only 12 years old!! Ron Dough be pleased, as his parents are Scot!!  I am the one next to him, the big guy, with the tuba. Perhaps I should change my username to 'Tubbythetuba'!! Also, if youl look closer to the other side opf the pic, you can see MrsBBM in her cerisce pink fleece!! No prizes for spotting her!!

NB

Back in my hometown of Haywards Heath, unfortunately we have katherine Jenkins belting out songs, just to spoil the evening!! With the pa system she is using, you can hear her all around  town!!!

I am EXTREMELY glad the weather held up today because if it hadn't I would have had twelve excited six-year-old girls in the (small) house instead of in the (somewhat more spacious) garden, this having been birthday party day - hmmm, I've just realised that Siān is six years older to the day than Miriam R-J. I am now rather tired, as anyone out there who's had experience with such things won't be surprised to hear. I had a mass of things I wanted to post about today but I think     that          will

I do hope the Birthday Girl's Dad was prevailed upon to demonstrate his balloon-animal making skills and that they all went home with one. Musical Bumps, FURT-style, would have been something to behold too.  Cool Grin

Shhh Andy, please don't draw attention to me not noticing his "here" - he'll realise that I didn't read his post properly - must have dozed off in the middle. Cheesy

You know very well, George, that balloon animals require SPECIAL balloons, and they aren't that easy to come by, believe me. I did have some white T-shirts and some SPECIAL crayons for drawing on them with, but somehow, given the garden activities and the fact that I seem to have gone for the adult-rated version of Pass the Parcel such that the little ones could hardly undo them, we never got around to playing that particular game, which is perhaps just as well. Musical Chairs by the way was played to the accompaniment of Natacha Atlas, this having been chosen by the young hostess herself, who (already!) regards FURT as something of an embarrassment.

After a week of wonderful weather today, the day of our Garden Party/BBQ was wet... pretty wet . Fortunately the people with the wonderful garden had a marquee so it just became rather intimate!

A lovely time was had by all.  Grin
