There was that TV programme about a couple walking from Land's End to John o'Groats wearing nothing. I think they made it to Inverness before the guy was altogether prevented from continuing.

Really? Good heavens. Were they good looking?  Cheesy

You can just imagine, though, if they HAD completed the journey uninterrupted they would have hailed the cause of extremist naturists and we'd have nude folk walking up every street of Britain, with their defence the couple walked as far as .......

There was a vicious insect in my room last night, making a really penetrating MEEEEEEEEEEE sound - bearing a more than passing resemblance to a solo cello note in the Proms Elgar 1 the other day, actually.

Were they good looking?

Can't remember now. This documentary followed them the whole way - the cameraman was clothed.

Pouring here in Brum, must cool it down a bit. I'm disconnecting my modem as I just heard a rumble of thunder. See you later.

You need to be tall I'm afraid,  to carry shorts off with style, with long,  slender, willowy legs.....
Never mind carrying them off with style - it's bloomin' hot so I've been wearing shorts - with short, plump, er, what's the opposite of willowy?, legs.

We had claps of thunder last night and some rain but it's been hot and sunny all day here near Manchester.

It's been pouring with rain for over 2 hours now, some very heavy stuff and lots of thunder/lightning. I've risked reconnecting my modem but it keeps dropping out.

The pouring, flashing (of lightning) and crashing (of the resultant thunder) started here about ten minutes ago. Just been for a run round the garden (kept my boxers on for the sake of the neighbours). Wonderfully cooling.

Pretty broody weather down here on the sarf coast, too. Some precipitation, but only of the 'you ain't seen nothing yet' variety. Sky a VERY weird combo of colours...  Sad

Distant thunder, so distant that I was the only one in the house to notice it Huh. I'm feeling very Waltraute-ish.

Eruanto, you missed being  down my neck of the woods last night!! We had a great thunderstorm. At one point me and my wife thought it was sheet lightening, but we did have the Proms on TV last night. At the time, the BBSO under David Robertson were playing Beethoven's 5th!! So, maybe it was just coincedence, I thoujght. Funnt how it happened during that work though!!

Oh I'm jealous of all the rain... we've been promised some for days now by the BBC, every day the maps suggest it's going to tip it down right over Lincoln and it's consistently bone dry.  We had some rather lethargic drops for about a minute at 4.30am and then it stopped again.  Bright and sunny again (you'd think I'd be pleased but it'd be nice to get a decent night's sleep instead of a night kicking the duvet out of the way.)

Last Monday, we were one of the warmest places in Britain, but since then the haar's hugged the coast so we've been cool, although it's been much hotter even a mile or so inland. Big thunder storm this morning, nevertheless.

The lawn's as green as spring, despite the fact that it's had the hose on it just twice this year: there have as yet been no really hot muggy nights either. I might have been a bit of a sun-worshipper in my earlier days, but I'm quite comfortable with the relative coolness of Tayside.

Did I sleep through all the rain and thunder last night, or did it just not arrive here Huh The pavements are dry, no rain drops on plants, although it does feel cooler out there. None of which explains why there were 4 slugs in the kitchen this morning, one of which I stepped on. In my BARE FEET!  Shocked ARGHHHHHHH. I was quite impressed at the speed of my vertical takeoff.
