I suffer from Arachnophobia, have to keep all windows closed at this time of the year when they get lost otherwise I'm in deep s**t!

I cannot sleep if I know one is inside  Angry Embarrassed

I know that one, Rob. I can't even do the 'get them on the end of a broom' trick. Shocked I've slept on the sofa many a time when I've found a spider in the bedroom. Even when you close the doors and windows, the buglers still get in Angry

Morticia, the other day I was at work and wearing my hoody and suddenly felt something move at the back of my neck, thought nothing of it and then I looked round and there it was, perched on my shoulder as proud as can be, I screamed, literally, much to the amusement of my work colleagues and whacked it onto the floor, stamped on it lol. I thought how it could have got into the hood part of my hoody, and about 20 seconds prior I had opened a window!

It was a horrendous experience!  Shocked Shocked

... and another quote: "The Spider Catcher is not limited to just spiders it can catch other insects"

I'm not at all comfortable being in a room where I know there's a spider, especially a large one, but insects don't bother me at all, I mean apart from stinging/biting ones.

I'm going to throw out all my hoodies right away.

I had a 40 minute walk home in the rain tonight, my legs and feet got pretty wet though my brolly protected my upper half. I went for a drink with my brother in Halesowen and coming back I had the choice of going all the way round via Brum city centre on the bus or walking the last 2.5 miles in the wet. It takes about the same time but there's the problem, as I know I've mentioned here before, of where I can go for a wee if I opt for the bus - so walk it was. It was actually quite pleasant, passed far quicker than I expected. The watering hole is called Watery Lane btw, it certainly was watery tonight Wink

It's been bright and sunny all morning, then the sky went black and we had a shower and now it's bright and sunny again.  You just don't know what to wear when you go out!  I hate carrying raincoats - just in case.  Roll Eyes

Ah it's today we northerners get our vengeance for last night.  Wink

Beautiful here.  Shame I wore a long sleeved top - it was freezing this morning and the car was all misted up.  It reminded me of proper back-to-school weather.

Proper back to school weather up here, too, rubes (although our schools have already been back for a couple of weeks: the cameras even had a wee outing today.

It was not warm today.
I was sat at the bus stop waiting for a number 23 to take me to work, wearing my hoodie (no spiders - I checked (I've had a couple of seriously arachnophobic girlfriends)) in the sunshine, and found myself shivering. There wasn't a breeze so it wasn't wind-chill so is it usually this not cold this far south at this time of the year? Will I have to start wearing my jacket to work already?

Edinburgh often feels like the coldest place in Britain, hh: although we're further north (though not by much, fewer than 40 miles by parallels) we're often considerably warmer. In winter '95 when the Playhouse's water system froze completely solid for a couple of days, Carnoustie stayed several degrees above zero. It was warm enough here today: I was overdressed and roasting.

I wore a jumper to work today, and kept my jacket on.  It has been cold with several monsoon type downpours.

This morning, after the downpours all evening and night, there was a thick mist and the spiders' webs were all covered in dew (quite amazing tracery, always breathtaking)  and it was a case of breathe out equals dragons' breath.  The rosy hips of the dog roses in the hedge looked very pretty with the dewdrops slowly dripping.  Autumnal it is.

Blimey hh, the 23 is one of the 2 buses I catch from home, you must live pretty close to me Cheesy

Been cool today (definitely - I've been wearing a sweatshirt) - and we had a torrential downpour after lunch, left pools of water in the garden.
