Having just eaten a lovely dinner (see 'What's that burning' thread) I'm strangely euphoric. It will probably pass but one must grasp these shards of happiness where one may.

I've just managed to catch a train home!
A result, given the state of the stretch of rail I'm on.

Bravo Tommo! I've been watching Jeeves and Wooster on ITV3 over dinner. Can you tell?

Q: What do you do when the logical answer to a compositional poser that you were expecting to be quite obvious turns out to be completely impossible? A: CHEAT!
That's when I know if the composition is going well: I don't mind winging it.

I believe you have, on average, about 18 hours before that happens, hh. Gather ye rosebuds while ye may.

I've just been to a lovely concert. The Cologne New Philharmonic Orchestra. They had all the enthusiasm and vivacity of youth and a wonderful rapport with each other. I've been starved of live music lately so I really needed this tonight. It was really great.

They played Bach Suite No. 2 in B minor for flute, strings and basso continuo, Mozart Divertimento No. 3 in B flat major, Vivaldi Concerto in B flat major for violin, Boccherini Concerto in B flat major for cello and orchestra, Elgar Serenade for string orchestra, Rossini Sonata No. 3 in C major.
They played very well - some of it a little too fast for my taste but with such warmth and vigour, it was infectious. Hugely enjoyable.

It is very enjoyable program. I wish I was there. I am glad you had a good time. I went to Marriage of Figaro a few days ago. It was very nice production with a small ensemble accompanying (quartet and winds). I was a little shoked when the count pulled his trousers down while waiting for Susana (or as it happens Rosina) to come. He had long boxers on him under the trousers. Some how I did not expect it. This was for those who did not understand why he wanted Susana to come to meet him at night.

Just returend from the cinema - first time in ages I've been. Went and saw Harry Potter 5 with some of my colleagues and had a meal out. A most excellent time was had by all! My friend Chris suggested we form a company film club...this is going to get expensive!

OK. I have 30 seconds of music written tonight that I think is quite good. Tomorrow I have to drive down to Nunthorpe (village just outside Middlesborough) to record a lady singing in a church as a favour. I get a free lunch. For now, I am content. The piece's title could well be ANAXIFORMINGES! but I'm not sure yet. And always at my back a little melon collie yaps. Night all.

recorder, trombone, guitar, violin, double bass, sine tones Look familiar? It's possibly going to go in my Ezra Pound thing one day in the future.
