Thanks to you all for the good wishes...trouble is, I'm starting to like not having a job so when I do start work again, it will be a bit of a shock!

I know what you mean, Jonathan. It's awful for us teachers having to go back to work after a nice long holiday... People moan about teachers having long holidays but they don't realise how much tougher this makes the job... Wink

I am going to see my mother and elder daughter for a few days on thursday! I need a break and feel I haven't seen her for a while, some of you may remember that she couldn't get to my wedding at the last minute. It's a long way from London to Manchester.. well it feels like it sometimes. I am hiring a car and going alone by train- I love train journeys!!! I think I am happy but perhaps I am grumpy too !  Undecided

Maybe I should go tomorrow? that's a thought! Roll Eyes

Not if you've bought your ticket in advance, unless you want to fork out a deal of money. (And if you haven't, then you'll have to anyway. Sad)

Ah, but you forget the old gits' railcard... takes a third off. I don't book beforehand as that is very limiting as to which train you get ... can't stand the strain!!

Hope you have a good train journey A. I always used to like watching those more unusual journeys on trains, eg like some of those taken by Michael Palin, etc. The scenery and the people on those journeys are always mind blowing.

Ho bbm, I hope I will, if it is not too crowded I love the Manchester/London journey by train. It would be better if 'he' was with me... but you can't have everything as I am 'oft' told !!!

An opera on an ipod and the chance to really get into a book, are the twin blessings of a long train journey.

And an ipod and a good book are what make a daily long-distance commute tolerable too.

Me and the mrs, always connect the mp3 player in the car audio system. Or put a Mahler/Bruckner symphony on or some such extended piece.

My daughter has a gizmo itrip device on her ipod which acts as a wireless transmitter allowing the sound to come out of her car radio/speakers.

From what I have heard the sound quality is awful, but as it's R'n'B she doesn't mind  Roll Eyes
