Miriam is lovely! HAPPY HAPPY ROOM indeed. Sleep well trj, whilst Mother and Baby are in hospital?
Erm, from the "bruiser photo", is that evidence of ventouse or forceps? Eitherway, it's done now. Best wishes to everyone.
Tommo
Well spotted. She was quite a big baby; she also took a long time to get into the final stages (for those who understand the numbers it took about 12 hours (instead of about 4) to get from 6 to 10 cm dilated). At the end we tried about half an hour of pushing unaided, but baby was getting pretty tired and distressed so a little help was needed. She should heal up very quickly - already you could see a difference after a few hours. Mum and baby are in hospital until later today, then we're all decamping to her parents' for a few weeks; I've had a good night's sleep, but I've woken up too excited to go back to bed now!

My first baby was big, and it was a forceps delivery; didn't show though. She'll be fine. Big big congratulations, TRJ, from both Lindsay and I
Since Ian is so much brainier then I am, I just can't resist the chance to correct his grammar and score a point. "From Lindsay and me", Ian. You wouldn't say "from we", would you?

Actually, I'm not worried if she's left with a little scar - her dad has one on his cheek for exactly the same reason!

Both mine were quite big - 8lbs 4 and 8lbs 2 respectively. Quick and easy, no forceps or artificial aid of any kind. I was really lucky! I can remember the midwife telling me at the first birth that it is always "the tiny little women who give birth the easiest and to the biggest babies". Strange but apparently true. Anyway I'm so glad that Miriam is ok and I'm sure that little bruise won't be a permanent scar.

That makes my eyes water just thinking about it! 8lbs-ish was plenty big enough for me.
