I did not say it right being language and logic challenged person.
My student plays in Jazz band, but there is another band, that is traditional. They play different repertoire.

The band from Norway visited the other band. My student plays in Dixie band. They all there are self tought I think. I heard them once and they are good for what they are doing.

We have another jazz band that plays every Monday I think. They posted themselves on youtube. THere is a  jazz band for students. It is like student senior orchestra, but one has to addition there and competition is big. I had one of my student playing saxophone there. He made it, but he did not play solo. Thay one was a good pianist (potentially), loved all kind of music. He is in the University now, doesn't come to me. He could learn Rachmaninoff Prelude or something else by himself, if he liked it. Such a good child he was, but I did not have him from the beginning.

We have a lot of contacts here with Oslo Philharmonic. They have such a fantastic wind player. A woman on trombone there was absolutely amazing. The others were good too. They come and play some times with youth orchestra. They inspire children very well.
The orchestra's leader has his home here. He is really good violinist. I don't know him personaly that well, but he conducts the older children's orchestra.
The wind players are not snobbish at all. May be there are more snobbish quartets and pianists, I don't really know.

t-p, I have Mariss Jansons cycle of Tchaik symphonies with the Oslo PO. Your very lucky in your country. Two of my favoureite norwegian favourite bbs are Eikanger Bjorsvik Mussiklagg and Stavanger. I love the way Stavanger play. One of the most entertaining bands in the whole of Europe!!

You may know our conductor of children orchestra. He goes to teach in England (some sort of European project or something). He is bassoon player and teaches in Limmerick.

They all get so excited when people from Norway come. They can be hear two times a year (Christmas or summer). They are such giving people, real joy to watch and listen.

I have to look into that Tchaikovsky symphonies with the Oslo PO.

In our band they are always are looking for arrangements. There is a brass quartet (or is it quintet), they are very good. And there is a general band. There used to be a good brass teacher here. I think they had problems. The same conductor conducts them and the children orchestra. His father is a tmb player I started with. May be I can introduce your arrangement to them. If you want me to of course. In any case I can suggest, but what they will or will not do I don't ;know.

brassmaestro, How can I find your profile? I naturally stupid, you know. (Please forgive my honesty).

We are planning to meet to chat soon. We are playing in a piano trio some times with a woman on flute. The young woman is from England. She is a conductor of younger orchestra.

I could have a chance to tell them about you.

This morning on R3 has been AMAZING!  Every track has been beautiful.  Anyone else listening?  The divine and blessed Emma Kirkby has a new Handel recording that I'm hopefully going to rush out and buy this afernoon.  Kiss

I was thinking the same thing Milly!! Emma Kirkby was as divine as ever. Perhaps thats why I am in an uplifted mood today. Well perhaps the other reason was that had my first band practice in 4 weeks!! Withdrawals symtoms creeping i n there, methinks. T'was a good night, plus band job this afternoon. Lovley!!

I'm not sure what the collective noun for a group of musicologists is (though I can think of several ...), but here's a rather belated photo from graduation - over a month ago now.

trj should recognise all the people in it. And Reiner will no doubt be amused at how much opi has, er, 'filled out' ...

Nice to see you, Opi! Good to be able to put a face to the name at last. You are looking most fetching Wink Free bottled water? Hmmm. I hope you treated yourself to some magnificent roast pigling. You deserved it!

...overheating? Or excess verbiage? If the latter, you're not alone, opi! Nice pic. And congrats, again!  Smiley

Glad to see I'm not the only graduand who ever had problems with that silly triangle keeping the gown round your neck - it never stays central, does it! Roll Eyes

Congratulations again opi! Smiley Smiley Smiley
