PS  If I tell you that the best bit of the ceremony was the free bottle of water, that gives you some idea of what our university excels in.

You got free water?!?
If they had provided us with water, that would have been the best bit of my ceremony.

(That's not quite true - I got to see a load of UGs graduate whom I had taught on and off for the last three years and that's always nice; it means so much to them)

Phew.  I can at last sit and relax.  After football practice we brought a scary, hyperactive child with the attention-span of a fruit fly, back home for lunch and to play for the afternoon.  However, after about 30 minutes of him rampaging around the house - it was raining at the time, so they were indoors - I decided that I'd take them to the local Wacky Warehouse for a couple of hours.  What a brilliant idea that was!  Sorted.  Noisiest place on the planet but I'm sure my ears will stop ringing sometime this evening.

When we returned home, the sun had come out so I made them a picnic to have in the garden on the climbing frame thingy.  Grin  I've just taken him home where hopefully his long-suffering parents might have a reasonable night's sleep, he being pretty much worn out.  As we are also...... Grin

Yippee!  A very good friend of mine from way back, who now lives in Dorset, is coming to see us tomorow with her husband and they're staying overnight.  We were pregnant together both times, so we've been friends for quite a few years and we've kept in touch ever since they moved away.  It will be fantastic to see them again because the last time they came over was for my husband's funeral nine years ago.  We've kept in touch by letter, cards and occasional 'phone calls since then.  They're arriving mid-afternoon tomorrow so I'm having to alter appointments, but no difficulties so far.  At their request, I'm doing one of my curry feasts for the evening.    I've also invited another couple, who are mutual friends, to come along later for a drink with us.  Cheesy

Off to the cinema this afternoon.  My best mate went to see Mamma Mia and loved it so much she wants to go again.  I said I'd go with her this time as little 'un will be in holiday club.

It's wonderful to be feeling so much better and life getting back to normal again after so long.  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Thanks!  Is it funny then?  My friend says that she was blubbing at one point during the song "The Winner Takes it All". Meryl Streep apparently excellent.

I love Abba.  When we were on our holiday, the resident cabaret artistes did a Mamma Mia evening.  Very popular.

I was also rather cheered that the classical concerts were very well attended too.  Usually there's very few in the audience, but every time it was a full house.  It was a concert pianist and my child thought he was wonderful, as did everyone else except me. I didn't rate him at all.  He made loads of mistakes and worked mostly from the music.  I think if you're going to call yourself a concert pianist you should at least learn the pieces.  One of the pieces advertised was the "Moonlight Sonata".  I was looking forward particularly to that, but he just played the first movement - you know, the bit that everyone can play - and didn't play the other two.   He did that from the music as well!   Roll Eyes
