The throat swelling doesn't sound at all good, Tonybob. I hope you will go and pester your GP again. I have a vague notion that antibiotics can take up to seven days to start to show progress but with the things that have been going on here, I am in a mood to advocate caution.

One of our moggies came home about three days ago with his right ear rather badly mauled. I didn't pay too much attention because cats often do pretty awful damage to themselves if they have (i.e.) an ear mite infestation, and scratch a lot.

So I dressed him up with an improvised Elizabethan Collar to prevent further scratching damage, and sponged him off a little. Over the last couple of days I have continued to sponge away various kinds of goo but last night was the first time I saw the full extent of the damage: massive abscess behind his ear, which looks as though it is now in danger of parting company with the rest of the kitkat. An emergency visit to the vet this morning has ensured that tomorrow he is going to the vet for stitches and insertion of drain (if necessary), and coming home without his family jewels. Fortunately he (kitkat) is now on antibiotics too.

its not, tp.
in fact the left side of my neck has swollen a lot, so i look a little no necked!
fun!

Doesn't sound like mumps.  The sides of the face tend to swell with that.  It can give you dreadful earache though.  Have you had glandular fever?  When one of my sons had it, one side of his neck swelled much more than the other.  He also had other swollen glands on his body - under his arm even!

Chaps.  Please be aware of the danger of scratching your ears.  Certainly something I won't be doing much of any more.

A word of encouragement if I may for Mort, who issued forth a bravura wave from her front door when last I saw her -a couple of weeks back one sunday morning before her first ciggie.Behind this wave is a barreload of lurgi with which she is contending.
I think she's taking some time out to sort things, but meantime solidarity to all
weathered types as I head off for a few days to avert my own argghh.
