It's the next get together of the r3ok forum members - they're going along the Thames looking for a suitable pub where Ian Pace can use his laptop.

the only thing I can dredge up from the mental morass for a "why?" is the coronation of the Doge. It would be nice if it was Doge Leonardo Loredan, but a lot to hope for given the style of the image.

Not that Kitty.
Clue: The subject of the matter is the building (the gondolas are just a fortunate clue to the city location) in which there was much music-making.

Well if the bridge was Rialto as I originally thought the building woudl either be San Bartolomeo or the fish market.......
So maybe the Bridge is Academia and the Building is, er, Academia

Ah but tony, some here would say Vivaldi is low-brow. Indeed, once the Pieta is identified, many Classic FM listeners know the answers to Who, When, Where, and Why. Every time a 'season' is played on ClassicFM the presenter will rabbit on about the only things he knows about Vivaldi, that he was nicknamed the Red Priest and he taught violin and composed concertos, and maybe directed the choirs when writing cantatas, at the Pieta on and off during 1703-1729 and maybe later, for the young orphan girls reknowned for their orchestra and choir. Woops, I've answered the remaining questions What? - Ospedale della Pieta Where? - Venice Who? - Antonio Vivaldi When? - ~ 1703-1729 Why? teaching and composing for the orphan girl musicians (that was his 'day job'; he also got commissions from European nobles and royalty and wrote operas) John W
