OK then, persons under 50 years old may have a problem with this one, but I expect a Who (4 of them), Why, What and maybe a When and a Where? John W

Cripes, I'm guessing from left to right, Karajan, Solti (? perhaps not), Rostropovitch and D. Oistrach.

Not knowing the bloke 2nd from left, but agreeing that the others are karajan, slava and oistrakh, I'm guessing it's a Beethoven Triple Concerto Recording, with some Russian pianist bloke - perhaps Gilels?

Excellent team work from martle, Ian Pace, tommo and tonybob Who - Sviatoslav Richter (piano), Mstislav Rostropovic (cello), David Oistrakh (violin) and Herbert von Karajan (conductor, Berlin Philharmonic)What - recording of Beethoven Triple Concerto Op 56Why - for HMV/EMIWhen - 1969 (maybe, the date on the HMV ASD 2582 says produced 1970)Where - I expect Berlin. The photographer at the session was German. How - With great skill? For sure. I don't know why BPO recorded it with HMV/EMI (it does say by permission of DGG (Deutsche Gramophone GmbH) John W

I spotted it too late. I knew that one. It doesn’t happen often that I know something. It is too bad that I missed this one about triple concerto. I did not know the occasion but I recognized everyone.

Hi t-p,
I thought you would know that one, sorry i forgot you were away somewhere.
I have a little library of images for this quiz so I will be posting maybe one a day for a week or so.
Of course any member can be a quizmaster and can submit images to test our knowledge.

This image should certainly get answers to Who? What? When? Where? The classical lyre and cherub apart, this work of art has a great realism in it's detail.
