Well there are just so MANY of them. I know on the H2G2 site on the "other side" you can delete them so I thought you just might be able to do it on here. If you can't it doesn't matter......

If you look at one of your own posts, Milly, next to the option 'Quote' (which is there for everyone's posts) your own should have options to 'Modify' and 'Delete'.
But that would remove them completely from the threads they're in, and might be a bit confusing if anyone was reading back over an old thread and trying to follow the conversation. Though I have occasionally removed old posts of my own when I'd said something private and then thought better of it, or something like that.

The city is a process which always veers away from the form envisaged and desired, ... whose revenge upon its architects and planners undoes every dream of mastery. It is [also] one of the sites where Dasein is assigned the impossible task of putting right what can never be put right. - Rob Lapsley

I really don't think I follow...to me one of the main things about internet fora is that they develop into large storage of information (though a lot of it may be only chitchat). What's wrong with there being so many?

What's wrong with there being so many? Nothing wrong I suppose. I suppose I just got it into my head there might be a storage issue. The BBC boards were always saying that they weren't efficient because there was "too much traffic" or something....I don't really understand. I know that it is possible to delete them all individually from each thread but that would wreck the discussion as you say. Now that Mort has got 94 pages to my 53 - I don't feel so bad!!!

I doubt even *this* forum is larger than a hundred megabytes (though I might be wrong...). In any event, I imagine it would have to get a lot bigger before storage would be an issue.

Wouldn't you think the Beeb could have afforded to do a lot better job? What they have now is ok I suppose. I don't like the curfew that they still have on there though. It's very nannyish.

Well, you see ollie , after a working life discussing, analysing, giving opinions on... bashing my head against a wall teaching music , I read -but don't often contribute to - the serious threads.
My life has got much jollier these days!!
So..pickies it is!

As you all liked my anecdotes about my friend the stripper and her snake, I thought I'd tell you about another of her idiosyncracies. She was convinced she was very psychic. It was hilarious! She used to hold little gatherings and charge people £20 for a "reading" - and they used to PAY!!! (There's one born every minute..) Anyway, because I'd done her a few favours and helped her out a bit she asked if there was anything she could do for me. I help to raise funds for a number of charities, so before she buglered off to Hamburg, I had a few "psychic evenings" all proceeds going to the charities. You only had to invite 5 people to get a quick £100.00 and it was money for old rope! I could have done it myself - in fact I think I could have done it better! People are so gullible and although I was outside the room being hostess and making drinks etc., I could hear a lot of what was going on. "I can see a man with a hat on standing next to you" "His name begins with A" "Do you know an Albert, or maybe Alfred...or maybe...." He's with a lady with wavy hair - or is it straight I can't quite make it out?" "Would that be your grandma?"
