Mills, look at the 'more stats' link on the home page! Top four are IanP, George, Ron and Mort. (er, others are not far behind... ) At the risk of being pedantic, aren't you 4th Martle? , I am fifth ( at the moment !!) then Mort. A P.S Just re read all this and realise you are talking about length of time on the message boards... sorry I took it as the most posts , I'll get me coat, -- I think I left it behind the sofa!! I will be off line for a few days from tomorrow so Mort will probably overtake me anyway !! A

And of course, those of us still in the stone age of dialup access are forced to spend much more time here waiting for the wretched thing to load

BobbyZ, I must say that, despite the initial muck ups with my new supplier, I don`t regret moving to broadband. After the interminable w-a-i-t-i-n-g with dial-up and then often losing the connection this is just so damn fast! It has made a big difference and I`m paying around the same for my `phone and internet package as I was before. Maybe think about it?

And of course, those of us still in the stone age of dialup access are forced to spend much more time here waiting for the wretched thing to load Funnily enough I did wonder earlier this morning if there are any regulars here still using dial-up - threads like 'Picture Association' and 'Photographs' must take forever to load, they still take a bit of time on my admittedly not very quick broadband*. Or do you just not bother to look at them Bobby? * I'm some distance from the exchange since I'm on the wrong exchange for where I live. I used to get a constant 1.1Mb/sec but Tiscali are supposed to be giving me a free upgrade to 'up to 4Mb' this month. I'll never get 4Mb but they've obviously done some changes because I now usually get 1.9Mb at quiet times However when it's busy I get less than 1.1Mb, sometimes a lot less

I do still bother with the "photographs" thread, occasionally with the "picture association" thread but am afraid I have given up on tracking "one to a million" for that very reason ! Broadband is definitely on the list for this year.

I have an up to 8MB connection speed (most of which I get, as I'm quite close to the exchange) and being a small provider, their customer service is excellent (and not a premium rate number).

To Her Majesty the Queen from her Russian secret agent.
I just heard that the Russian museum will travel to London. The exhibition opening day is 26 January.
On Russian TV they said it is once in a life time oportunity to see such a good collection. It is the same exhibition they had in France last Summer. I have to dig more to find out what paintings are going to London, but have to keep my cover. tp

t-p, you could come over to see it, and we could have a board meet-up as well! I'd like to see it, certainly.

I wondered whether to resurrect the Names thread for this, but received menacing Red Warning informing me that no-one had posted on the thread for 120 days, and Was I Sure? So I came here instead.
My son's prospective wife's first name is the same as mine (my real one, that is) so, if she takes my son's surname (do girls still do this?), she and I will have identical names. Moreover, her surname is the same as my other son's first name, so if they hyphenate the two surnames, the result will be my other son's full name. This is going to be confusing either way, but is quite an odd coincidence, is it not? Also, her mother's first name is the same as my middle name. None of these names is particularly common, though not wildly unusual either. Very strange.

I love realising coincidences like this, Mary!
My mum's initials are RMW. Many years ago, my dad bought her a small antique wooden box as a present. It was only when he presented it to her that he noticed that the initials RMW had been carved onto the side of the box...
And a silly one involving a name: a girl at school was called Debra Rolls. Debra is an anagram of bread!

Merely corroborative detail, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.

Gosh! Aren`t I the lucky one? I`ve won NINE HUNDRED AND FIFTEEN THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED AND TEN EUROS in the Spanish Lottery! All I have to do is give them my bank account details and they will kindly put the money in there. And there was me worrying about having to go to Spain to collect it

That's a lot of money, lucky you . It will help with the gas bills. It's all very well for intelligent people like you, Mort, but some people actually do get taken in by these things.

It'll help solve your identity theft problem Mort At work we have had a phishing email supposedly from Nat West Bank, and that's worrying because we do bank on-line with them, so we reported it to the bank of course, but I'm sure people are taken in. Very dark morning again here
