I'm currently showing "Posts: leet" under my name and stars. Expect it will change once I've posted this one. Edit: I was right!

Andy D - "leet" = 1337 - but I'm not enough of a geek to be able to explain why, and I can't say the following makes it much clearer... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leet

Yes, Bryn, but the bit I don't know how to explain is why, when there are lots of numeric sequences which resemble words, "leet" is the only one (that I know of) which is consistently used in that form in place of the numeric original whenever it arises

It's cheered me up no end that I've never heard of "leet". This might explain it but, there again, maybe not "1t'5 4 v4r14t10n 0f t3h w0rd 3l1t3 u53d by 14m3r5 wh0 th1nk th3y 4r3 3l1t3... 0ft3n us3d w1th 4r3 v4r1at10n 0f d1g1t5 1n5t34d 0f l3tt3r5...0ft3n u53d by 5cr1pt k1dd135 t0 d35cr18e th31r 5k1ll. (0ri9in4l d3finiti0n by 5cav3ng3r) Translation: It's a variation of the word Elite, used by lamers who think they are Elite... often used with are variation of digits instead of letters... Often used by script kiddies to descripe their skill. (Original definition by scavenger)" Also "It misspells words that have been commonly misspelled in English, such as 'Teh'." - so some people here are using it without realising that they are

Andy, I don`t know if I should be deeply worried or pleased by the fact that I was able to read your quote without having to check the translation!

Yes, one of my nerd colleagues uses the word "leet" fairly frequently so I was familiar with that one.

I left my computer logged into this board whilst I was downstairs entertaining - that's bumped up my time logged in to 15 days 5 hours! I usually hop in and out of the site, checking up on posts at random. I wonder who has been on the longest?

But time logged in doesn't necessarily correlate to time wasted spent on this forum. I, for example, frequently leave myself logged into r3ok while I am doing something more worthwhile.

I can`t think of a more perfectly honest, decent and impeccably truthful story. I mean, reason. Ahem ...
Wait! You boy, at the back. If you can`t spell fabrication then you shouldn`t saying the word!
