Ah; you're keeping up with ICHC on a daily basis we see? I saw that and was saving it up for an appropriate occasion. (but, no harm!)

Astonishing, isn't it - posts libelling singers or attacking other posters are allowed to hang around on TOP for days, while the moment anyone mentions a live concert, the Mods reach for the blue pencil. Nation shall speak unto nation ....

At every one of these [classical] concerts in England you will find rows of weary people who are there, not because they really like classical music, but because they think they ought to like it. (Shaw, Don Juan in Hell)

Hail Mary, Queen of the Rebellious! didn't even get one number of phone speaking of eatings must shop for foods That's what I've been planning to do since about 12.30. There was one brief lull in the stormy rain, when I should have made a dash for it, but I was in the middle of something else, and now it's gone all cold and blustery again. But I'm hungry, and can't last much longer. I think it's time to be brave. Then I need to look for my bow-tie. I've done a lot of tidying this week but still haven't tackled the cupboard where I think it is.

The city is a process which always veers away from the form envisaged and desired, ... whose revenge upon its architects and planners undoes every dream of mastery. It is [also] one of the sites where Dasein is assigned the impossible task of putting right what can never be put right. - Rob Lapsley

Is there no end to the idiocy over there? I've just had a look.
Idiotic, yes. But also logical from the point of view of the outsourced jobsworth ... It's quite simple. Somewhere there is a rule that says "no mentions of live concerts on the boards". No judgement needed or required - so the Mod can wield the stick, claim s/he is doing the job, and get paid. But a post slagging off another member, say, is a different matter. It involves judgement and discretion. Therefore it is more difficult, and there is always a rationale for doing nothing, while being able to claim that, for example, one is promoting vigorous debate and defending free speech. Hence, even when doing nothing, and avoiding a decision, the Mod can claim that s/he is doing the job, and get paid. Of course, the older-fashioned kind of Mod who knows and cares and makes an effort is no longer viable in the output-driven resource-accounted, key-performance-indicated world ...
