I feel sorry for Robert Peston. He is so tense and nervy - I just want him to calm down. He looks very young and vulnerable to me, and brings out my maternal instinct. I don't think I've met anyone else who can stand him, so I feel even more sorry for him. I do miss that nice Evan Davis with the sticky-out ears, though. I think he's on the Today programme now - which I don't listen to, in order to shock my sister-in-law, who thinks it's as necessary as breathing.

Apparently the Beeb took Peston into some back room and had the speech heavies work him over a bit recently. For a while he improved, but now seems to have reverted, what with all the recent stress and attention and all.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this. The Peter Moores Foundatiion, are going to present 'The Quest for Valhalla'. Humphrey Burton will be the presenter, and the guests will include people either closely associated with Howard Goodall or with the opera world. Its at ENO's London Colliseum on Sunday 23/11/08 at 2.30pm. Its free but you have to obtain your tickets from the box office. BTW, it's to do with the conductor Reginald Goodall. Sounds like an event  not to be missed.

Human nature in all its glory again.  Roll Eyes  In a small seaside town not a million miles from here, they are apparently closing down the tiny little Woolworths store to make way for a Tesco Express.  For two days now Woolworths have been offering their wares at 70% off for their final sale.  There have been queues right down the High Street now for two whole days and apparently the Community Police have had to be called in to separate people fighting over who saw something first.  Grin

I'd planned to take the little one over there today and indeed still may do that, if there's a long queue still we'll leave.  I suppose everyone is trying to stock up on toys and games for Christmas.

And for all the Christmasses to come, I suppose. I don't think Tesco Express sell toys and games. Roll Eyes

I am finally getting BWV 886 under my fingers. It's very gratifying to get into the practicing habit again.

(That's the A-flat major Prelude and Fugue from WTC II)

Is that no.17? If so, well done you! I found that one of the hardest.  Currently doing battle with number 22 - at least when no one else is at home......

I think #22 is one of the hardest, myself, and not just the fugue.

I hope this link inspires rather than discourages you:
