Having the windows cleaned is strange as well, you never know quite which window they're going to pop up at next.  My house is pretty small with lots of big windows, and it's all open plan.  It's a bit like being an exhibit in a museum as there isn't really anywhere to hide. The cat freaks out every time.  Smiley

I agree about window cleaning, but my window cleaner seems to have disappeared. I don't even know his name, let alone his telephone number, and he's been cleaning my windows for about 20 years!

Hw will probably pop up at a window at exactly the wrong moment some time Grin

Aha, maybe he's trying to lull you into a false sense of security for exactly that reason!  Cheesy

My other half has always had problems with window cleaners - they turn up about twice and then never again.  They obviously have a short attention span round there.

I really hope that's a typo BBM, and that your window cleaner doesn't have some rather unpleasant gravity-defying party trick...  Shocked  Cheesy

Thanks BBM but it's all on the grumpy old rant thread.  And the coping with life's little wotsits thread.  Nothing massive really, I'm just being tired and defeatist.    Smiley Kiss

Where do all these window cleaners come from? I assumed you had to go out of your way to look for one if you wanted to employ one: do they really just turn up and do the job without even telling you their name???

Maybe it's a non-London thing.

Speaking for myself, I saw one doing someone else's windows one day and wandered over and asked if he'd do mine.  He seems to do most of the street now.  I do know his name and address, but only because if I'm not in he pops a card through the door to say they've been done.

I've just watched a Robert Peston clip.  Cheerful soul isn't he?  Anybody got any razor blades?  Sad Seriously though, if his doom-laden predictions are correct, we're not in for a very good 2009.  I can't make my mind up whether they're all over or under-egging the pudding.

I think Peston is TERRIBLE. His delivery reminds me of a comedy programme on a couple of years ago that took the p*ss out of news presenters...."The Day Today" or something it was called, Peston is even more of a parody than that.

YUCK!  I cant stand him.

Should I be in the G.O. Rant Room?
