Agreed, Milly. I can't say I knew much (or anything, really) about either of them before this, but I can see no reason why they should keep their apparently highly-paid jobs if this is how they behave, even once.

What I've never understood about either of them, is their power over women.  They're both hotly pursued all the time and a lot of women seem to love them.

I think that both of them are a pair of the most unattractive men I've ever come across.  I don't think either of them are good-looking and as soon as they open their mouths they prove themselves to be, exactly as they look, rough as chips.  Their apparent success is also based partly on their "gift of the gab".  Huh  Yuck!

Howd'ja get the little superscript TM, Olz?
...on a Mac it's most easily obtained from the Character Palette I think. (Click on the flag top right, then Show Character Palette, then it's under Miscellaneous.) Or if you have a really good memory you can get it with alt-something. «∑€®†Ω¨⁄ø𕱑æœ@∆ºª©ƒ∂‚å¥≈ç√∫~µ∞…–»„‰¸˝ˇÁÛØ∏°’ÆŒflˆıÓÌÏ™™

Ah, alt-shift-d.

On a PC I don't know  Embarrassed

ALT + 0153 on numeric keypad in Windows. Now can someone tell me how to do it in Ubuntu which is where I am now? There's a character map but I can't find TM on it.

Something must be wrong with a society that pays these people such ludicrous amounts.

It's just been announced that Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand have been suspended by the BBC and their shows taken off-air pending an investigation.

I should imagine whichever BBC employee who passed the recording as being suitable for broadcast must be quaking in their boots.

I am no fan of Mary Whitehouse, but this was different. It wasn't only a bad "joke" in poor taste made in a programme; it was a direct personal message to a person who had done nothing, intended to hurt him directly.

Oh yes i do know that Mary. Sorry if this caused offence. I wasn't either a fan of MW. I think there has to be a limit as to what people can say. I agree that what they said was awful and hurtful to members of the public, the BBC's reputation, and the family and friends of Andrew Sachs.

Hee hee!  Cheesy  I have at last been and bought the dewberry that transfers pics from my phone to the computer.  I'm busy bombarding everyone with family photos and holiday snaps.  Oh deep joy!   Grin

I wasn't offended at all, BBM Grin I'm sorry if you thought I was (we could go on apologising to each other for ever!). I suppose I was just anxious to point out that I wasn't an uptight old biddy like Mary Whitehouse.
