Ruby, if you decide to look for a coat this afternoon don't forget to have a peek in the charity shops (particularly ones in posh areas), or any clothing exchanges/second-hand shops that may be around.  You never know what you might find for very little money.

Thanks all!  Grin

Strina, as it happens I did the charity shop rounds yesterday.  I'm going to a halloween thing at the weekend as a schoolgirl zombie (don't ask) so I was after a skirt that could be converted.  I found the perfect one in the red cross shop - an ancient long pleated skirt from C&A that someone had obviously had their money out of.  It's now enjoying reincarnation at mid-thigh length.

Anyway - I was looking out for coats while I was at it but they were all puffer jackets, duffle coats and denim.  I noticed some smarter ones in Matalan the other day so I shall be checking them out on the way home.  I checked Primark as well yesterday (God I'm really going downmarket these days) but they all looked like they'd been packed in the same box as white mohair then kicked around the floor.  They probably had.

The dangerous thing about charity shop bargains is how they tempt you to acquire things that you'd never dream of paying full price for.  I found the most gorgeous winter-white 100% triple-ply cashmere jumper the other day for £20, and was seriously tempted to buy it even though it was about three sizes too large.  "I could convert it into a cardigan," I thought, "or belt it and wear it as a dress," before I saw sense and walked away.

I've never again lived up to the year I found a faux fur coat in one of the local charity shops (when I lived in Blighty) although I've come close once or twice.

I saw a premier cd recording by Chandos of the BBC PO, under(I think) of Transcriptions of Bach for Orchestra, I think again, under Matthias Bamert. I only bought it for £1.50!  No bad! Smiley

I made a complete muck of yesterday morning. I re-set the clock radio the night before to allow for the hour difference, but I got it wrong Roll Eyes Consequently when it went off at 6.15 it was actually 7.15. When Rob Cowan blithley announced it was 10 minutes to 8 there followed 4 seconds of pure paralysed panic followed by a whirl of speed dressing for England, amid much cursing. Caught the 5 past 8 bus though! Cheesy This morning I am ahead of myself since I was woken before 6 by the unmistakable sound of a cat throwing up. Sigh. Gosh, I've got so much time on my hands I may even have another cup of tea Grin
