Marmalade is one of the great foods of the world!

I've just had muesli and porridge oats, heated in the microwave (I'm sure you're not supposed to heat muesli, but I do), and coffee.

Paddington always cheers.  Very happy memories there.

I'm out and about a lot today.  It would have been our wedding anniversary and so I've crammed a lot into the day so I have no time to mope.  It looks like a nice bright, sunny day at least.

Have a nice day folks!  Smiley

Hope you coping ok with your day, Milly....

Thank you so much for asking, Jan, I've actually done extremely well.  I was a bit overwrought this morning but wrote a letter to my husband and placed it with the flowers on his grave on the way to Preston.  I felt much better after that funnily enough.  I've kept myself really busy all day.  It's been a long time now but the misery of anniversaries never seems to go away.

I went to Preston to buy a new 'phone but as I'm mid-contract, it will be better to wait.  They wouldn't transfer it on to my existing contract so I would have had to have two contracts running concurrently.  They also told me ridiculous prices.  I wanted the new Nokia - I was first told £750!!!!  Shocked Shocked Shocked I nearly passed out!  I said that couldn't be correct.  Off he went to check, came back and said £350.  That sounded much better by comparison, but still far too much.  Anyway, when he checked it on the till it came up as £500!!  Needless to say I didn't buy one.  Fortunately there was a beautiful boxer in there called Billy who cheered me up by jumping up, putting his paws on my shoulders and licking my nose.  He was very tall! Admittedly I am also very small, but he was the biggest boxer I've ever seen.  Beautiful large head.  I bought some new Man United football socks for little 'un in JJB Sports, popped into Debenhams, had a coffee and a scone and came home.

Since then I've been ferrying kids and cooking.

Once again, thanks for asking.

I seriously need to do a 'proper' shop, the store cupboard is looking rather bare Cry But ...  it's flippin' freezing and the idea of hanging around for buses to go the to hell that is Holloway Road is less than appealing Sad I've tried bribing myself - 'You can get some of those nice sausages from the butcher and have a cooked breakfast at the weekend' - but even that didn't work. Now my bank have just texted my balance through  Guess the store cupboard will have to wait for a bit ...

Oh dear Mort - I've spent this week trying very hard to manage on what was in the house on the basis that I was only going to be home for dinner x3, and it's not been much fun.  Food shopping is unappealing at the best of times, even when you've got the car as an option.  It rains outside my local Morrisons, but only on your way out.  It has its own designated weather system.

Coat update by the way.  Smiley  I must just stress first that I hate shopping, but my girlie hormones must have kicked in in a big way on Wednesday.  Went to Matalan and tried a few on but they were awful - none of them fitted right, and the cheaper ones wouldn't keep a marathon runner warm.  So off to TK Maxx and a 40 minute rummage produced a cut price italian job (not the film).  Only problem was, it was a slightly odd colour and didn't go with my bag (girlie hormones yawning and stretching).  The only decent one that did was £80, which is kind of departing from bargain territory - in fact the first one I picked up was £150.

This is where the girlie hormones downed a Berocca and an espresso and took charge of things.

Logic:  If I buy the £80 coat, it's £40 more expensive than this one here that doesn't go with my bag, so it's costing £40 too much.

If I buy the £40 one and can find a new handbag to go with it for say £20 then I've saved £20!

Which I did.  Embarrassed

On the plus side, I like my new bag better than my other one, it's very roomy.   Grin

Girlie nonsense over...

[Edit - how funny - I typed all this well before Mort's plea for an update!  Cheesy]

I'd look at it as kick-starting the economy, Ruby. It was your patriotic duty to have a surge in the High Street.
