It's a man who works on telephone lines:

I know what a linesman is, or was. Apparently these days they have to be called assistant referees and I don't know why that is. I tried to get an answer from someone who is supposed to know about these things but all he could say is that they shouldn't be called linesmen any more.

Leicester City lurking a bit close to the relegation zone don't you think, Alison?

Yes I hear we 'bottled it bigtime' yesterday.

Chris Coleman for manager please.

I used to be a linesman for youth teams. I think the change may have been due to the introduction of female persons running the line, and also the expansion of duties with substitutes etc., and the fourth person etc etc. So the name was changed to be a more appropriate job description.

Statistically my team Coventry are OK except if we lost all our remaining games and Leeds, Hull and Barnsley won all theirs. If they have to play each other then we are already safe. If all of those teams win another game then Leicester will need to also!

Surprising reverses for Coventry after a good start from Ian Dowie.

Were you encouraged by that managerial appointment, John ?

He had talks with Leicester too.

Yes Alison, Dowie made a good start but it's clear now that he can't take us to the premiership with the current team. We await news of someone buying the club and the Ricoh stadium (which is owned by the city council).(fingerscrossedsmiley)

In the "spooky coincidences" department, I heard this song on the radio last week... the first time I've heard it in over 20 years! (My mother had the LP.)

Oddly, I remembered all the lyrics but I had so forgotten the sound of Glen Campbell's voice that I swore it wasn't him until the announcer named him at the end  Undecided

Mil, I trust you remain unscathed. There is a thing called 'new country' these days which abhors the twang and
the spitoon- Alison Krauss (vocals and violin)and Union Station for example. And as you probably know WL is
by Jim Webb who also did McArthur Park and some Beach Boys tunes, for example.
