Anna

I am sure, that for some while at least...most of us will also post (or attempt to) on new fancy super-dooper whistles and bells official R3 board as well...

But this looks like a much nicer place I think....( if only I could the hang of avatar  - land !)

MK, I don't want to leave the R3 MBs, everything I know has been learnt from there

"Oh, not a lot then" remarked a passing stoat whilst applying her mascara

No, seriously, I feel that R3 is in trouble.  The axing of Mixing It, the curtailing of Hear & Now, the restrictions on the MBs - you are only allowed to post to 4 programmes, two of which are basically chat shows.  The fact you cannot discuss Po3, Opera, etc.

What has happened is they can't put up with the criticism so are pulling the plug on the listeners.  "No Comment" is the motto

Anna, What happened with your avatar?
I am also sad about the changes on the other board. However lets not panick. Things change things stays the same. We don't have to leave the other board. We can post on two boards. It makes it even more fun.

PS. I am myself the best with regard to panic. I can give anybody run for their money and I think I will win in the cathegory.
All the best

It would not surprise me to learn that Radio 3 mod-ers are keeping an eye on this site. I like the wider scope here. I shall watch the Radio 3 MB, but unless the subject title is something that appeals to me, it will take me far too long to read (i.e. listen) through the thread to find a post which veers off in a direction I would like to respond to.

t-p, my avatar was in memory of Mixing It and probably broke copyright rules so I changed it.  I have a huge loyalty to the BBC MB and will continue to use it as well as this MB.

Anna,

Any images on the BBC website can be used for personal or non-commercial purposes, says so in their Terms of Use page. I reckon this forum qualifies for free use.

Me too.  I'm so sad they've seen fit to change it all yet again and push us out in the cold if we don't play nicely by their rules.  We'll just have to see how it goes and how flexible it is.  It seems weird hearing Rob reading out posts and poems on the air.  The odd quote off the board was ok but they obviously want a lot more input now - on their own terms of course.

Milly,

You know I cannot access R3 during the day, have they been reading out MB comments and poems?  Is this what the new "interactivity" comes down to?  Are we supposed to post one-liners like, "That was wonderful, so sad, it reminds me of when my dog died and coincidentally the vet had Beethoven playing in the background"  Huh Huh

It was Valentine's Day poems today Anna.  There was a competition for the best one and the winner was to be read out by Sean Rafferty.  I haven't been able to listen to the radio much today as it's half term and we've been out and about all over the place, but that's what I heard Rob and MacMillan talking about before we left.

Seeing as the 4 new classical boards are all programmes I won't listen to (full time worker and not around for breakfast or cd review and not about for the two chat shows) it seems I am effectively disenfranchised from commenting about anything on R3 in the future.

Valentine poems eh?

Roses are red
Violets are blueish
Under Roger Wright
We won't hear music newish

Boom Boom!!

Bit swotty and relevant, that one, Anna-babes!

How about:

My love is slim and beautiful -
Blue-eyed, with golden flecks!
But she wants a "relationship"
And all I want is sex!

 Wink

And she is also skiing in France. I'm stuck here working.  Sad

Oi!  Simes, you know how I hate you calling me Babes, let alone a swot.  However, you should see me with me mortar board artfully  placed!!

Hmm! I nearly posted about Bakewell and Tarts, but that would have been a bit obvious

Ho!.  It's likely that some of you will have seen this in the Telegraph today.  It sums it all up.

Oh dear. I find myself agreeing with something in the Telegraph.

These are strange and disturbing times.
