This isn't really a 'Helpdesk' topic but I think it belongs here.
I'm still seeing the green dog.

What are you seeing?

I refreshed my page and this appeared:

... but the green dog is now amongst (or amid) us once more.

The snapshots above were taken with a nifty little utility called Grab that I hadn't used before (others probably know all about it...).
I used it also to take a picture of my desktop:

cotitsalv (though I don't know why you would...)

... and I was wondering if anyone else likes to keep their desktop as free of clutter as I optimally do.
At the moment, it's a bit of a mess (a bit like my flat) with lots of IRCAM software I haven't quite tidied away yet, but I know people who fill their desktop with icons. How do they find anything? I like to keep my dock well stocked with the things that I use the most, and keep my documents filed away.

How do you keep your desktop?

PS I like to keep my flat tidy as well but that hardly ever happens.

I never knew how to take a picture of my desktop but think I have worked it out.  Here it is (just made it a bit bigger)

Very neat and tidy (unlike me!)  What does your desktop say about you?

You might not know this, but if there's a 'print screen' button on your keyboard you can use that, and that copies a screenshot to your clipboard, so you can paste it in mspaint or whatever.

My current desktop is ...horrific; I don't find that it's too big a deal to have a messy desktop on my macbook.

.

My optimal computer config involves doing away with the desktop, and windows, entirely.  But ah well; that can't be done at the moment (with my current operating system)

Ants, how did you do that?

I pressed print screen key (whilst my desktop was on screen of course) then in photo editor new file edit and paste then saved it, then uploaded it to photobucket.

Gosh inky. That's an exciting desktop.
I've used this an excuse to tidy it up so it looks like this now:

Better. Smiley

Here's my PC desktop with one or two...ahem...sensitive items removed Cheesy

I use it as a genuine desktop ie a workspace, so it's cluttered with files that I've been using recently, as well as icons for progs which I use a lot and hardware. Once I've finished with a file, I drag it to the "to file" folder (bottom right) where it might stay for some time.

I know people who fill their desktop with icons. How do they find anything? I like to keep my dock well stocked with the things that I use the most, and keep my documents filed away.

In answer to your question hh, I find it much easier to find things if they're right in front of me rather than filed away. In fact it's made me think that I could do with having a few of my more volatile files on the desktop which I currently have in My Documents and access via shortcuts in the Start menu.

At the risk of extreme geekiness, those with a mac can 'photograph' all or part of their screen with these key combinations:

To create a picture file of all or parts of your screen, hold down these keys. (The file is saved on your startup disk.) A plus sign (+) means keys are held down together.

    * Command + Shift + 3 - Creates a picture file of the entire screen.
    * Command + Shift + 4 - Creates a picture file of a rectangular section of the screen. (After pressing and releasing the key combination, drag across the part of the screen you want to take a picture of.)
    * Command + Shift + 4 + Caps Lock - Creates a picture file of a window. (After pressing and releasing the key combination, click the window you want to take a picture of.)

Note: To copy a section of the screen or a window to the Clipboard instead of saving it as a file, press the Control key as you select the part of the screen or window.

Still my geek credentials do not extend to knowledge of how to get an image on photobucket on to this posting. Undecided

I used to use some shell wallpapers (not mine, they are free on a shell dealers website) at my old job but at the new one they won't let me!

Ok, is anyone else having photobucket problems? I'm using the site with
username: r3okfroum
password: radio3photos
But it won't respond when I click on the upload button. And the last pic I see uploaded there is Richard's Veronika 2 byebye shot, none of your desktops as above...  Huh
