How nice for you. If only everyone could live like that, but of course the vast majority of human beings on the planet can't, and instead have an even simpler life.

My life is even more simple, John: I don't have kids. Cheesy

Gotcha! I knew I'd get a 'how nice for you' response  Cheesy

Of course, (some) members here will know that I hate injustice. I'm from a multi-racial family who knows injustice, and my chosen profession is one that strives to save working people from injustice, ok maybe just people who work in Warwickshire.

John, I apologise for my flippant 'Brady Bunch' photo, intended as it was to suggest you were being provocatively smug and blinkered about the issues that had been exercising Reiner and others in previous posts, expressed (as you must have seen it) with undue passion.  I realise now that your intention was merely to introduce some levity and perspective by invoking the rosy picture of your own domestic comfort, and I retract any implication my post may have carried that you care not a fig for the deaths of thousands during our current period of military engagement.

Heaven forfend that John should ever be provocatively smug and blinkered about anything.

Thanks martle, maybe I too should apologise for detracting from the seriousness of the thread.

It's just that we know some things our government have done are (more than just) regrettable but we achieve nothing by ranting on here, make a point, yes, but ranting just depresses me. We have (other) politicians who can rant and (try to) make some impression on the government but, here, our rants can't.  Undecided

We are so lucky - at the moment at least.  Heaven knows what will happen to us in the future, but at least we have our families and our lives.  Ten thousand and rising people killed in Burma by the cyclone, let alone in wars.

Of course we all care what happens to everyone else and I for one wish I had a magic wand.  I'd make everything right in an instant.  Well there'd be no more wars for a start.

So ok - if you had three wishes ..... Grin

Mine are :

1.  World Peace
2.  Perfect Health
3.  No Poverty

Indeed Milly. Burma and the Mid-West of USA always get their fair share of bad weather yet both districts seem to make their homes out of matchwood  Undecided

I'm reminded that one of my uncles lived in Burma, 1942-45
