After the suggestion in the "Tosca Time" thread, expound gracefully (but briefly) on operas that present magnificent (or grotesque) opportunities for product placement from grateful sponsors. As an inducement (or disincentive) I will mention a real-life example once we've got the ball rolling....
(perhaps we might at last lure Parsifal and Tonyyyy over there with this...?)

Love of three oranges by Prokofiev. (He did turned down an offer from Orange juice company to sponser his opera).
Tchaikovsky Cherevitchki (schoes company or Niki) Qeen of Spades could be sponsored by gambling casino from Los Vegas.

I found this one funny because (a) it really happened to me and (ii) the product had no connection at all with the piece.
I was staging "Bastien & Bastienne" (about, ehem, a shepherd and shepherdess in the C18th), and we were offered sponsorship by a company making tea-bags. But the condition was that the characters in the opera had to make themselves a cup of tea, and say how nice the tea was, because it was made by the ABC Tea Company. I eventually persuaded them that, with the best will in the world, we couldn't rewrite Mozart's music to advertise their tea - but we would put posters in foyer, and offer the audience free cups of tea in the interval ;-)

I hope Reiner, that the tea company agreed. This is really funny story. Otherwise, rewriting great Mozart would not be a good idea. I can not think of any other operas and sponsors. Does any opera has apples in it so that Apple computer can sponsor it?
