That sounds good, but even with the polls we've had we don't know the state of play till we have voted. (However I suppose there could be PMing - 'I've just voted and X is in the lead - get the gang in to vote for Y!')

I don't understand your point fully however.  Could you say something more about what you mean?

I'm not trying to be rude - but no.
My point about this poll is clear enough.

Sorry.  Slow brain in the morning.  It actually took me some thinking about now to fully get it.

assuming a,b and c have combined 70%, and d 30%, It doesn't seem unreasonable to me that this minority should have some representation in terms of the moderatorship.  Also, the term 'strongly favouring' to me indicates some definite divide between two camps, and further emphasizes the need for minority representation on the mod panel so that fairness could be perceived.

All this being said; I have to say I doubt this situation will arise with the current proposed mods.  I don't care what voting system we use.  There, I've said it.  I'm pretty sure whatever the voting system used that outcome won't be too much effected.

We will, I think, have to set up a 'grumpy old mods' thread though somewhere where they can vent their spleen (assuming there isn't one hidden away somewhere already Wink  ).

How about a closed ballot?

I can open a fresh account named 'R3OK polls' and you can PM your vote to it.  That way you cannot see the way that votes are going, and all things are fair and above board.  This would of course mean me knowing who voted for whom.

Well Michael, this all sounds very much like "making up the rules as you go along" - not too good when it comes to things like elections. You seem to be proposing that all votes should be collected secretly by a single individual (blind), and that the same individual should then declare the "result". What (for goodness' sake) could possibly be the precedent for that?!

Like George, I suggested some time back a single ballot in which the top three candidates were deemed elected. But having immediately been bullied off (by I won't say who, though trawling through the Argument thread will reveal this) I withdrew.

This is turning into insanity.

BTW, last night (specifically because of all this rubbish) I attempted to cancel my subscription to this forum. But I was presented with a window that informed me that withdrawal of my membership was only possible "with the agreement of the Moderators". This is absurd!

I shall now attempt to withdraw my membership again, and will expect this not to be impeded.

Baz, please don't do that. This will all be over by tomorrow evening. In the meantime perhaps anyone who's bored or depressed by it should exercise a little patient, I mean patience.

the steam snorting picturesquely from their nostrils in the crisp autumnal air.

Or, in this case, something rather more virus-induced issuing rather distastefully from their nostrils in a centrally-heated cocoon.

Oh dear, sorry to hear that, Richard. Giant tortoise and theorbo are on their way.

Perhaps replace the flaring nostrils reference in my earlier post with "...the autumn sun gleaming on their magnificent eager flanks".

Baz, please don`t go. I`m sure these choppy water will shortly calm. As Richard says, it will all be over by tomorrow evening and then, hopefully, we will have calmer waters to sail in.

May I just interject amongst all the election talk to note how very good it is to see you posting here again, George; a voice of sanity, much missed in recent days.  Smiley

Indeed IGI. Where have you been, George? Not having emergency lagging for your tusk as Winter creeps in? Attending evening classes in Mud Wrestling for Beginners? Grin Grin

However I suppose there could be PMing

For some reason I read that and thought it was some kind of secret way in which Menzies Campbell was dethroned? Wink

As I said before, in a post which was deemed argumentative.. I think ther should be one poll for the 3 members. Please tell me why this message is argumentative... it's what I said before.
