Ian said something about when the puzzle was set being important, hence the days of the week...but maybe we were meant to crack it on Friday? Could the Zimmermann be 'Die Soldaten' which is set 'yesterday, today and tomorrow'?
No, another work of Zimmermann (one of his best known), but actually Die Soldaten would also work. I said as my clue something like 'remember when you first started out'.....

OK, that's blown one theory! Let's try another:
Zimmermann - Un petit rien?

No. Another hint - finding the Zimmermann is the clue that's least likely to help you guess the link. If you can get the Blow and the Ireland, then it'll probably click ...

No, I think getting the Palestrina is least likely to help!! So I'm ignoring Books of the Bible, sequences of days (although there is some sort of sequence involved because you re-ordered them) and plumping for:
John Blow - Venus and Adonis

Final theory of the day...
Blow - Morning Service in G or Ode on St Cecilia's Day?

No. A clue - it's very inviting.

Two other possibilities for John Ireland (pursuing a couple of theories now, somewhat blindly)
Ireland - Ireland - Horn the Hornblower or On a Birthday Morning Charpentier – Luctus de morte augustissimae Mariae Theresiae Galliae J. Strauss II – Jokey Polka
