Hmmm, no one's said "Good morning" for a while, so, GOOD MORNING ! It' s a glorious morning here. Blue sky, bright sunshine and nary a cloud. I may have to go and gambol happily in the fields! Oh, hang on, there aren't any fields here. Oh well, never mind ! Grin

Hmmm, no one's said "Good morning" for a while

I was thinking just the same thing earlier, but I was feeling bad-tempered after sleeping badly, so I did nothing about it - or about anything else, for that matter.

Anyway, good morning, or good lunchtime, or whatever it is. I feel a bit more good-morning-ish now.

Aaargh, Hillary Clinton is on the radio, that voice like a rusty creaking squeaking gate.....suddenly I feel bad again Cry.

I know, I wasn't feeling too good this morning when the news came on, after I'd gone to bed with the optimistic hope of waking up to hear Obama had won all the primaries overnight. Roll Eyes

There was something on Woman's Hour yesterday (the things I listen to when I'm at home all day!!) with the Guildhall School's head of voice coaching talking about that awful grating voice - clenched and tight. The funny thing was that having started out by identifying all the negative things about Clinton's voice, this voice coach didn't conclude that she'd be a bad President but that she needs a better PR team to coach her. I found it rather quaintly charming to find that the only people who still believe style and substance are separable are the people in charge of style!

That's well put, tinners!
But Clinton knows exactly what she's doing with that voice. She never used to sound so growly and tough-guy. I'd put money on her having been coached to talk like that. (She may be a woman, but she's hard as nails, can take a knock or two and get right back on the horse, she's not intimidated by tough men, steely exterior but heart of gold etc. What does the voice remind you of? The croaky drawl of the hard-bitten frontiersman/cowboy hero in my case. That's the way she and her team are playing it.)

My vicar says he always listens to Woman's Hour.  He finds it very informative.

Not necessarily mutually incompatible, by any means, in my experience.

He may be a vicar, but he's hard as Maggie?

Tough, not hard.

And a compulsive prima donna.

(But a good egg nonetheless)

Mornin',

Just trying to do all the last minute tasks and packing before setting out on the drive to the airport: I'll not be about much this morning before departure, and not at all for the next couple of days, though that may not stop me speaking to a few of you, at least.... Wink
