I really must get a decorator in. Upstairs is not too good Know how you feel Mary Ch (where is that other mary??) Carpets. The whole house needs re-carpeting. I won't say how long these carpets have been here but we moved into this house in 1991...... Decided against wood flooring downstairs as it would be a constant job chasing dust. At least carpet absorbs dust till you get the vacuum cleaner out. Our daughter moves out soon. If she takes all her stuff with her then that might be the trigger us to sort this house out!!

My beasts are doing precisely the same. In the warmest spots they have been able to find. I wish you'd stop using the word "beasts" in sentences like that before I have my glasses on.

I hope you manage to cheer up a bit Mary. Can't have you thqueaming and thqueaming till you're thick. Decorating is a pain I agree. Sanding down the wood has created so much dust - all over the house! I tried to keep the doors shut but with children playing here and the dog it's been impossible. I was up till after midnight cleaning the living room last night and this afternoon I'm going to have a go at the dining room which is also covered in white powder. The rooms I'm having done are off the kitchen to make matters worse. The decorator insisted on having the kitchen door open to lay all his stuff down on a sheet so it just went everywhere. But....and it's a big but....I can't bear my house looking shabby so I just had to have it done and when it's finished, it will be super. So Mary, I suggest that you just regard it as a necessary evil like I do.

Why is the one in pyjamas always the best-looking?! (And why is Christoph Eschenbach sitting in the near left-hand corner?) Morning all - oh, bit late. I was actually up quite early, though still not early enough to convince myself I really wanted to get to Victoria for the 10.30 coach to take the rather round-about route I'd planned to Birkenhead (via an afternoon stop-off in Manchester). If I thought there was a way to get to Birkenhead by 8 o'clock this evening without simply getting stuck in the centre of Liverpool then I might still do it, but otherwise I think I'll listen to Kontra-Punkte and then think about whether it's still worth spending the rest of the weekend in Manchester, as planned. (I'm still in London at the moment, in case that wasn't clear. It probably wasn't. My head isn't.)

Good morning,
We have a cloudy sky and no sun, but it is dry.
I don't know why this thread was resting for so long. I decided to use it.
My poor nerves can not calm down. Yesterday our neighbor came and said that we have a leak. The water is coming from the attic. We had to call the plumber and I hope he will come soon.
Mary Chambers, Thank you very much for youtube link. I got up early because choruses were playing in my head. This time it was Slave chorus and some other. I think the second one is from Ernani, but I have to check.
I watched youtube with samples of ballet dancers and am feeling good at the moment. At least there is no Glory Glory.... going in my head. Thank you once again.
I hope your are feeling better.
I have a busy day in front of me. My friend is leaving tomorrow morning. I want to show him around before he goes. On top of everything else Mr tp was bitten by a wasp.

Good morning tp - sorry to hear all this but... On the other hand, pianos can be very handy objects to beat the hell out of if you ever have trouble with a plumber.
...I suggest you place Chopin's "Revolutionary Study" on your piano at the ready. Baz

good morning, Mr Baz,
I don't know how do you know my repertoire? Did I say I have Revolutionary study in my "repertoire"?
I don't remember, but I don't have a good memory.
Playing Revolutionary study sounds like a good idea to me. Thank you.
P.S. I can also play Rachmaninoff prelude. I know two.

I thought all pianists had that at their command - but if they don't then what about something by Liszt? If I had to call out a plumber I can assure you that I should have an endless supply of Bartok piano pieces lined up through which to vent my wrath. Baz

I played the Revolutionary study two times, then Gb study in a sort of heavy handed way for about two.
I played two Rachmaninoffs and Chopin first Nocturn (I have to play it and Gb on black keys soon because the violinist need to rest and wants me to provide change of colour).
I don't have any Bartok. Romanian dances would be good. I have to pull Russian grade books and see.
I have from old times grades from 1 to 8 or 9. I also have Canadian Royal Academy books.
Thank you so much. I feel much better.
