Not only is KK in pre-mod back in the ruins, but see

http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/mbradio3/F2620065?thread=3902615&skip=0&show=20#p45831448

... in other words the new Jazz board might look the same as the old one on the surface, but the rules of the game are being tightened to exclude many of the things that made it what it was.

Rob's comment did cause a wry smile  Sad

King Kenny is in and out of moderation frequently but Host Peter is very good, I don't think the Jazz Bored will notice too many changes.

The Iain Burnside MB could well turn into an AK clone (no postings).  I cannot understand why they chose two magazine programmes for two MBs, they could have combined the two and had a general classical MB,

SimonSays had posted about CE and Bryn about the Afternoon programme, both threads are still standing

Well, we could go and ask Rob what exactly he meant by that comment, couldn't we?

(This one, I mean.)

It would at least pass the time...

Yes, I can see that the topics for discussion there are limited and it is not as interesting to be on the board as before.

I used to post on the last Classical Music Forum but one before they decimated that one too and have since lost interest in the station and its descent in to personality-led programming.  Sad!  It was my last reason for paying a TV licence since I had totally given up watching the BBC's output on the box.  So I stopped paying the licence!

Anyway all this is just to say how pleased I am to see these boards, unfettered as they are by the Soviet-style censoring and double speak of the official one.

It was time people broke free and I wish you all the very best.

Poo_bear, I don't like piesonality-led programming, but what can one do. This Radio 3 is the best there is so far. They make some good programs too. If I am on my own I have no one to stimulate and widen my horizen.
I need some radio.

Hi trained pianist - fortunately I have access to foreign stations such as France Musiques and Bayern 4 Klassik which still think it's more important to tell us at least the tempo markings of the movements rather than patronise us with their own opinions about the piece.

As to what anyone can do - I think the answer is vote with your feet which is effectively what people on this board are doing.  I just cannot bear Wink even looking at the official pages with their "house rules and guidelines".  If you pay their wages it's your house, not theirs and you should call the tune.

Yes, I like to be independent too. However we all can be influenced, especially those who know less.
There are trends and fashions. Some people like to follow fashions, and some like to walk under their own drum (if I said it correctly).

Well, Chris - the host of the music matters board 'over there' has now made it explicit. See message 19 here:

Hi pim-derks

Welcome aboard... The other place looks very bleak and forbidding, doesn't it?
Thank you, Ron. It does look very bleak and forbidding. If I hadn't join the Radio 3 MB a few months ago, I wouldn't have known this board now. I feel very sorry for new visitors to the Radio 3 website: they will never know how good the old board was. But I suppose this is what the BBC wants. Sad

I've just cancelled my membership on the Other Side so you won't be seeing me over there any more. Should anyone over there happen to have an urgent question for Ollie (and not have found this forum what with the links being constantly modded) feel free to pass it on here.

Damn, having trouble seeing the screen. I think I'll have to play my chalumeau for a bit until I cheer up.

Ho Oliver.  I fully understand your reasons for the departure from "elsewhere" and have been amazed at the way things have gone and the manner of one of the hosts over there.  You're a great loss to them and I'm sure they'll come to regret it.   I'll keep my eye out for any possible messages for you from folks who are not over here.  Enjoy your trip.
Cheers
