...isolated green shoots dotted sparsely in the ashes of a huge forest fire.

The 'aftermath', rather appropriately.

(Or is someone going to tell me that is only the new shoots after mowing and harvesting, not fires.)

Semantically, GG, the 'math' seems to be related to an old Germanic word for mowing, which sadly puts your fire idea out (as it were).

I remember being amused and enlightened by much of the MB content of the other place, and contributors had a tendency to moderate themselves and each other as I recall.

The whole idea of "reactive moderation", at least as practised there, was highly sinister and at odds with the Corporation's motto "Nation shall speak peace unto Nation".

I did not post in the other place for fear of being pounced on for poor grammar, spelling, etc., regardless of the relevance or otherwise of my contribution.

Still enjoying visiting this MB though.

II did not post in the other place for fear of being pounced on for poor grammar, spelling, etc.,

That often depended on whether they were 'accidental circumstances' or just plain ignorance, Op.33: I'd refer you particularly to members Bryn and wilf and their typographical meanderings; rarely corrected by others than themselves, but often occasioning unexpected humour.

But welcome here, however: we look forward to the times when 'Grimes is at his exercise'.

"The BBC Messageboard is Reactively Moderated" ...of course, silly me. Roll Eyes

I have to be honest, I was only really there for Late Junction and Mixing it (RIP) so.....I'm already 50% less likely to bother going back.

Quite clearly there has been a cover-up of 'governmental' proportions. Lips sealed

The hush up campaign is on-going and I even detected a slight change in the pitch of Late Junction. (perhaps shaken by their unfair move)

Can anyone tell me if they honestly think that this 'cold war' between the R3 managment and listeners is going to end anytime soon? (seems like a cold war to me!)

And are the BBC "REALLY" putting plants (not spider) in the forums??? (Why?)

I don't suppose anyone needs reminding, but let's not forget that the dear Controller will face the music on R4's Feedback at 13.30 tomorrow. Rog versus Rog. Should be worth a listen.  Wink

I think they don't want regular posters. They want a few posts from people who write once in a while.
Never a truer word spoken by t-p. That's exactly what they want/don't want, I suspect.

(I also suspect, if you asked them in private what had finally pushed them to make the changes, they'd say it was the 'politicisation' of the boards. By some of the regular posters, indeed. Comes down to exactly the same thing.)

I'm trying to find anything at all to pounce on in your contributions so far, Peter, and failing utterly.

Or was it just the 'official'-looking BBC boards that made you nervous?

Just been over to the other place. That business of having to wait 3 minutes before you can post again - it's a joke isn't it. Glad to see this place showing them how to run a message board properly.

The three-minute wait was another irritation and one I don't miss. Does this board close at midnight? I doubt it but I've never stayed up to test it. One concern I have is that I was on a computer I don't normally use yesterday and I had forgotten the address of this site. I tried to find it under Google but with no success. How can we attract more posters if that is the case? Or was I Googling the wrong thing? I intended to start a thread on Mozart's last year last night but then my computer crashed and I lost it all and I was too tired to type it again.

Nope - 24/7 waffle if you want it, Tony.

You can google for any unusual user name.  Oliver Sudden leads you to this forum and does Thompson1780.  I'm sure many more do to.

There's also a link to it at the bottom of the Wiki page on BBC Radio 3.

But when the Animals woke up the next morning, Boxer was gone, and in place of the old motto was written "Gnashing shall be spoken unto Nation".

Oddly, all the "other place" Boards have just been closed - 10'07" approx.
