There have been no moddings for a fortnight over there.

RW has achieved his objective of destroying a community.

Some souls still struggle on in an attempt to turn the tide and feel betrayed by the lack of support from former Members.  However, the grass is always greener .........

those in charge have never taken much notice anyway

a vital spark has gone out of the place.

Absolutely agree with both those comments. I would also add that, imho, these boards are far superior in the breadth and range of what can be discussed, and with far better functionality. Over in the other place, they really only want sycophants posting praise, so the management can say what good value their boards represent. Meanwhile, the intelligent debate, comment, criticism, photos et al. can take place here. That's the way it has had to go; some will say it's a shame and/or wrong - I won't necessarily disagree with them.

I think this board has developed into a more generalised forum than being merely about Radio 3. But with a community brought together by some sort of shared Radio 3 ethos if you like. I know that wasn't Michael and John's original intention but it has seemed a natural growth in that direction I feel. The BBC have for some time wanted their boards to be closely tied to their content, at least from the time of the change from "Classical Forum" to "Classical Music on Radio 3". And the most recent change has of course been even more extreme. I have to admit that I don't miss at all the numerous posts complaining about individual presenters style, accent, pronunciation etc. Or how dare one particular item be played on the breakfast show. Or "you are an idiot for making that post" , "no I'm not you're the idiot." I will be interested to see the debate on here during the Proms for instance when there should be more posts directly concerned with the broadcasts.

It should never be this board against that board but I wish some of the denigrators of the content here would read the contributions to threads on the musical appreciation and new music sections for instance to see the level of debate that can be produced. And yes, waffle has the most posts. And yes, aren't they fun ? Even the coffee bar threads cover a surprisingly wide range from the trivial and amusing to the serious and supportive.

Well put, BobbyZ. I hope that some of the `visitors` from the other MB will read your post and think on it.

Check again, there have been several instances of messages being hidden, including one of mine regarding "Where's the Skill in That?".

Bryn`s right. The moddings continue, albeit not quite in the slash and burn way that they started out as.

I just posted this over at the Other Place (CD Review topic)

I was using Listen Again for CD Review just now and, on the Listen Again page, when I clicked the link for 'join discussion on messageboard' it, yes you've guessed it, took me to the forum that was closed 4 weeks ago

This is also the case with messageboard links on Listen Again page for In Tune, Early Music Show, Performance on 3, Discovering Music, Hear and Now, CD Masters..... need I go on?

Shambles.

Of course not our Hosts' responsibility, and not the show presenters' responsibility, and not the show producers' responsibilty....

Of course I should have added that THIS PLACE should be made the link for discussions; maybe someone will is response

Well that's what Roger Wright implied last week, so why haven't they updated the links on the Listen Again pages  Grin

Because, this is not the offiicial R3 MBs however you might wish it to be.

And I am not surprised at Ron Dough's reaction to your post.

Some of us are staying loyal, some of us are on some kind of power trip.

Radio3Rocks,

I'm still loyal to R3MB but there was obviously a need for this place, proven when you compare the number of posting in the last 4 weeks.

The lack of updates on the Listen Again pages is the result of very poor management by R3 managers, I'm just doing them a favour in a subject area that their controller took time out to discuss recently so he obviously attaches some importance to it.

I wasn't in any way implying a power trip; I just didn't understand 'someone will is response'...(should it be 'in'?)

I continue to post in the other place, but am increasingly dismayed at the hostility and pettiness that appear to be the dominant condition. It's not conducive to serious discussion: the considerable reduction in the number of posts surely bears to the wilting interest, but I'm not willing to go down without some rearguard action: the Beeb board is a disgrace, full stop.

So far as this board is concerned, I stand by what I said when I initiated the "Thank you" thread soon after it had started; without Michael's timely intervention in providing a new home, the old community would have been scattered to the winds, which would have been quite a blow to many. Immigrants have flourished here, with more social interaction on (and off) the board, and there's enough space for discussions on a wide range of subjects to take place without getting in the way of those who aren't interested in them.

Need I say more?

Thanks Ron. I've no idea what I was trying to say there, hence I haven't corrected it. Hmm 'in' might work  Cheesy

Yes and I still post there, though I notice some threads die after I post, usually when I've replied to wilf or anna  Grin

Anyone else think Radio3Rocks (a few messages above) was Anna in disguise?  Cheesy

Sorry. tOP is just depressing.
I've just gone over to see what's going on and it just seems like it's full of people moaning and attacking R3, the programmes, the music, the presenters...
Where's the fun in that?
I just don't listen to the programmes that have been singled out as 'topics' (except, from time to time, to Breakfast).
Interesting (well I think so) discussion as to what R3 should be providing in terms of website here: http://www.for3.org/forums/showthread.php?t=54

Must catch bus now.

I agree. Some of the postings aimed at Rob Cowan and Ian Burnside are disrespectful, and not just from new posters.
