But nobody seems to have picked up on the irony of the "vote for" thread. The warning from the host made it clear that it was all right to talk about forthcoming elections as long as certain rules were followed. But that means it's all right to talk about local politics over there, as long as you don't talk about choral evensong or certain other matter relating to Radio 3.

I think that's why the explosion happened really.
Probably more discussion tonight than any other night because the host made a boo boo and told them they could post about politics...

Tony,

It didn`t escape me but I didn`t dive in because, frankly, I couldn`t think of anything that wouldn`t get me modded. I felt too bloody angry to be coherent with my words. Am probably not doing much better now Angry Angry

hh, I think you are right. The Host set himself a booby trap. Of course people were going to respond with an explosion of `naughty` posts. Treat the Posters like kiddies and, well really, what else can the Hosts expect?

Check out this bit of joined-up MB maintenance policy. What must RC be thinking??

I now find that from today, the other place no longer recognises the name autoharp - so I can't post or access my old postings. doesn't seem to want me as a new member either !

a-harp,
I find it a cold, forbidding and venomous place right now. And. despite continuing to post there out of some kind of loyalty and/or concern, can barely be bothered any more. Too depressing. The level of debate and civil attitude here is so superior.
(And it is NOT a competition. This situation is of the BBC's making.)

Martle,

I feel the same and it gives me no pleasure to say that. I look in there daily and I have posted, but I find myself skim reading threads and feeling, dare I say it? rather bored by what I see. Also far too much sniping STILL going on. The programmes that I might wish to discuss, I am not allowed to and, frankly, those that I am permitted to comment on, umm, zzzzzzzzz.

It does indeed feel a cold and unwelcoming space now. Sad

I agree with both Martle and Morticia, with the possible excpetion of the obscure composers thread which seems quite hospitable!

Hi autoharp,

Remember that your Member Name at Beeb MBs might not be autoharp Huh

I'm just saying that because I have a 'member name' there which is not John; my screen name there is my own name but I originally had had a cool 'screen name' dreamed up when I first joined Beeb MBs but it never materialised as my screen name, I got confused and my own name ended up as the screen name and, well, I couldn't be bothered changing it, and everybody knows who I am  Roll Eyes

Anyway just thought, if you haven't logged in there for a while maybe you were forgetting that your Member Name might be different from your Screen Name ?

Yes we are of the same opinion. The dreadful thread about the good Norman Lebrecht has been the "last straw" for us, and we have now lost interest entirely. The good ship "Radio 3 message board" has sunk has it not?

I still look in 'over there' from time to time, but it just isn't worth it any more. It's not user friendly or people friendly nowadays.

Thank goodness for 'Over here'.

This isnt very topical, but I've just listened to the CBSO Q&A podcast with the outgoing MD and the CEO as trailed
by its presenter Tommy Pearson elsewhere here. The Brummies are like us an excluded minority from the present 3
plan. A signal moment was when TP read out Ron Dough's question crediting the board of course. Both things are
the very model of how to do accessibility properly, and it shows we have friends in illustrous places with paralell
issues -we are in this together.

I agree. I added a reaction "over there" earlier today. The first reaction in a very long time. The days of interesting debate and friendly conversation are over on the BBC message board, I'm afraid. Sad

Has anyone had a look at the `Roger Wright - Goodbye` thread on Music Matters over the road? My spirits sank even further. Oh, and I see R3 is now getting a Request Show on Sundays. Very soon even tumbleweed won`t survive over there. Angry Although having said that there are some wonderfully `off-message` postings on the thread that would have been instantly zapped a few weeks ago.
