Well, that was so much clearer than Radio 3 had ever been over the Internet. I do hope those who listened made a point of contributing towards Resonance's fund raising. I must check out more of the Resonance schedule.

I would go with MYxing it  So that a sense of continuity is maintained, or maybe I'm just sentimental about the name. The main thing is that you are doing it which is fantastic.
(Nice to know that the beeb don't object to you working else  where now they don't want you. What a strange world).
Looking forward to the next show.

oh dear the beeb are certainly no angels but things don't seem so great at Resonance FM either, I've just been sent this really negative news about one of the bosses at the community station - I loathe the Sun but that email speaks volumes. What an attitude its a real shame, I thought they were supposed to be different.

Well it is the Sun, and while the emails we have been offered access to the content of do not exactly show Richard Thomas in the best light, it was a pretty crass way for someone with the level of qualifications in the media claimed by Muthamma Prasad to try and get an 'in'. Difficult to excuse Thomas's response though, no matter how inept the original email.

By the way, is this the same Richard Thomas who wrote the music for  "Jerry Springer, the opera"?

I'd love to hear what spurned him to respond in that way.

There's a link to the emails under the story on the sun website. I suggest a mirror and time set aside for a long hard look to help him out with the new show.

RE; the new name discussion on Resonancefm:
It's true they do not own the name until they trademark it. Someone is just trying it on (and succeeding as we are ill informed/not bothered). If they love 'the brand' they refer to so much why have they cut it? How greedy.
The comfy programme controllers at BBC should realise it's a dodgy game aligning yourself with the mainstream in media, because the product becomes purged of not only distinction but of any reality. The media becomes a product rather than a service. Look at what has happened in the last three months to Xfm undr the new management, by looking aside at what other commercial stations were playing, their figures dropped dramatically.

mmm....i dont think i would have been so "matey" with someone I was applying to work for, and I do think he was right about the 'etiquette' thing. Though if I had felt that I just wouldn't have responded.

Tonight (14th March) on Resonance FM at 11pm Robert & I reveal our new programme name. (No it's not 'Mix, Innit?' although i did particularly like that one). Plus music from Efterklang, Volga, Gudrun Gut, Ligeti, Laub, Burning Star Core, Wico, Spectac and R.D.Burman

Best,
