Along the same lines (and presumably in the same release batch of docs) comes news that Special Branch had identified George Orwell (after he had published Animal Farm and 1984) as another suspicious pinko collaborator: "This man has advanced communist views ... He dresses in a bohemian fashion both at his office and in his leisure hours."full story http://books.guardian.co.uk/news/articles/0,,2161853,00.html

And Orwell went on, as we now know, to shop various fellow travellers to the Secret Service when he was worked for the IRD in the Foreign Office.

Blair wasn't such a bad sort if you stayed in his good books. But I'll never know where Mr.Palfrey found him.

This IS funny, the BBC scraps it's 'switch-off' Climate Awareness programme. I wonder have the BBC bosses joined us sceptics or did they realise everyone would have to switch their TVs off for a day? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/6979596.stm

I particularly like the sentence: "Practice bombs are not live devices but are made to look and feel like real bombs."
Yes, It's yet another prime example of military intelligence.

The economics award for catching bank robbers is a crock. As BBC4 viewers will know, Batman and Robin perfected this one years ago.

At every one of these [classical] concerts in England you will find rows of weary people who are there, not because they really like classical music, but because they think they ought to like it. (Shaw, Don Juan in Hell)
